Let us get a handle with lust in our lives. The Lord has put this on my heart, for sexual sin is destroying lives left and right. So in the name of Jesus, our Lord, let us commit to follow Him and give up our addictions once and for all. This means giving up drinking, smoking, vaping, doing drugs, having sex outside of marriage, looking at pornography, and looking at people with lust. All of these things are evil in the sight of God and must be dealt with swiftly, in order to be saved. This means letting things go in our lives that are grievous to the Holy Spirit. I say this since lust and covetousness are causing people to stumble in such manner, while not allowing the Spirit to lead them. These two sins go hand in hand. For our fleshly desires wants more and more of the pleasure that was felt when we were given over to the lusts of our eyes. And these things are only causing people to not inherit the kingdom of God when they die. Now, it is only Satan’s will that people fall into these types of sinful lifestyles. He does this by tempting people with exactly what their flesh desires. Therefore, without being shielded by God, through our faith in Him, His Words in our hearts, and prayer, we are sitting ducks to the evil one. 1“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (James 1:21,22)
James described what our Christian way of life should be like above and also said that 1“pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” (James 1:27) Did you catch the part about keeping ourselves unspotted from the world? This goes hand in hand with what John said also. He said, 2“love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (1 John 2:15-17) He also said, 2“my little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.” (1 John 2:1-3) So do as James and John have taught us and get right with Jesus, who is able to forgive you of your sins. Only He can change your wicked heart and give you new desires to walk in His light. This is possible if you allow Jesus to take hold of your life. Then can He tear the lusts from your eyes and heart and free you from the clutches of the enemy in His mighty Name.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I love and honor You. There is nothing this world can offer me that you have not already done for my life. Because Your presence is with me, I am filled with so much peace, love, and happiness. I welcome You, Lord, in my life now and forever. It is my prayer that You will always be with me. I am so much stronger now and I know it is because of Your great love for me. Only You could free me from the lusts of my eyes and the covetousness in my heart. You have given me better desires to serve You in Your kingdom. I am now walking in Your holiness as I seek You, Lord, daily through reading the Bible, praying, and doing Your will. I am unable to do this on my own, but only through the Holy Spirit in me. Thank You, Jesus. I praise You, Lord. You are so merciful and kind. Thank You for hearing my prayers and having compassion for my life. I am a new man because of what You have done for me. And now I have hope that others that are in bondage now, because of their addictions, that You will free them also in Your mighty Name. If these people would just come to You in all their brokenness, then You would make them whole. All I can do is lead these people, even while they are in sin, to Your holy presence in prayer, and You are able to do the rest while convicting them of the evil state they are in. So lead these people away from all their lusts and covetousness, while giving them over to clean thoughts that honor You. I say these things, Lord, in Your mighty Name, Jesus. Oh, how I love and adore You, God. Amen.
