There are many things that will take place near the end of the great tribulation. However, for this message we will focus our attention on the latter events of the seventh seal, after the sixth angel had sounded his trumpet. Speaking of that time, there was much destruction that had already happened on earth. Along with two thirds of the people left on it. These were those that would be able to witness the next major events to come. One of those things was God raising up two witnesses. Revelation, chapter 11, reads, 1“I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.” They were to do their ministry and bear witness of Christ in the streets of Jerusalem until their days were finished, by the hand of the Lord. It is at this point that 1“the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.” And to think that Satan thought that he had won the battle. However, he had something coming to him, because of what happened next.
It was during the time that the two witness were dead that the following events went down and it became headline news. John prophesied and said, 1“and their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.” So just imagine this being broadcast all over the internet and TV in the news and even seeing this being reposted over and over on YouTube and Facebook and such. The majority of people will be rejoicing and some will even be making fun of Christians because of this ordeal. However, they would all get a rude awakening because of what happened next. It reads, 1“after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.” This would really put fear in people’s hearts, especially those that were rejoicing.
1“The same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven. The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.” So, after seeing these mighty men go up into heaven and then witnessing earthquakes and all these people dying because of this, the fear level for the wicked would surely be rising. Some may even call upon God and believe because of this. Now, this leads us into the seventh angel and what he was called to do next. John records, 1“the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.” Surely this announcement would be heard again in all the news outlets. Every person would know that God is real and that Jesus is the Christ and Lord of all. His kingdom shall reign forever. And so it begins that the people will know for certain of the glory of the Lord and that Christians were right all along.
Now as much as I’d love to see every person accept Jesus as Lord and Savior at this point, I know that when people’s hearts are hardened, there is nothing we can do for them. This is exactly what happened next. It reads, that 1“the nations were angry” about what they saw and heard. They were not open hearted but still highly against every believer of Christ and not willing to accept Jesus in any way. However, the verse continues and says that 1“thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.” And so it shall be when the seventh seal is opened. Each angel would have their part in showing the people that God is all powerful and that the wicked will be punished for their wicked deeds. Lastly, the seventh angel showed up and declared the glory of the Lord and that anyone not on His side will be judged according to their deeds and found unworthy. These same people will one day bow down to the Lord in judgment and then see their fate, as they are thrown into the lake of fire for all eternity.
Let us pray:
Lord God, may we all be prepared to meet You, when the end of our days are done on earth. I pray that we may keep You in our hearts and minds at all times. That we may glorify You in what we say and do. Your words are a lamp unto our feet and lead us to safety. In this wicked world that we live in, we are able to know what is right and what is wrong and strive to live in Your holiness, because You are with us. I know that this desire does not come from my own self, but from You Lord, who strengthens me. If it was up to my own flesh to decide what to do in this life, surely I’d be in trouble. My lusts for the things of this world would get the best of me. Even my thoughts and desires for women would get out of hand quickly. This was my life and I no longer wish my flesh to take control over me like it did in the past. The day that You led me out of my pornography addiction and my life of adultery is when my life changed forever. I used to be in bondage of sin until You rescued me. Instead of having thoughts for myself and my needs, You gave me new thoughts for other people. With Your Spirit leading me, I was able to walk in Your light and no longer be a slave to things that I know causes me shame and guilt. And now Lord, my life is in Your hands to do with me as You please. I am Your servant and am willing to do whatever You say. Your counsel is the wisdom I need to go onward in life with hope for tomorrow. As long I am safe in Your arms, I can go through all the trials of life and still come out victorious. You are my greatest love of all and for You, Lord, I give You all the praise and honor. It is amazing to worship You and to glorify Your Name. I love You God. In thy holy Name, Jesus. Amen.

I wonder what the meaning is behind “which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt” in speaking of Jerusalem” Of course, Sodom represents intense Evil. What is the meaning behind Jerusalem being compared spiritually to Egypt?
