Adultery is as rampant today as it ever was in the past. So many men and women are falling prey to the wickedness of this generation, and don’t even realize it. Much of the TV and movies that people watch are filled with sex scenes or scenes with half naked men and women. What is so sad is that people have become so desensitized by all of this, that they don’t even see it as wrong most the time. It used to be that so-called Christians would at least fast forward these scenes but now they only appear as they are looking away, while seeing the whole thing. Along with this, comes pornography and it is not just the younger generation anymore that look at it. The viewers are made up of people of all ages, men and women, married an single, and all races. This sin, along with homosexuality, is becoming more rampant every day. The lines are being blurred in the media, because of commercials and other media, that these things are not so bad anymore. People have even told me, “why not just let the person live the life they want”? To that question, I say, “as a Christian, it is my duty to witness the truths of God. And when God says adultery is an abomination, I will warn the people and let them choose. I do not wish anyone to go to hell because of the evil choices they made in this life.” Please understand that as a Christian, we ought to warn people of the dangers of sin and urge them to repent.
Solomon spoke of the people in his age, and how they gave in to the entrapment’s of harlots. And understand that the prostitutes then may have changed a little in our day but their desires to lead a person to hell is still in full force. Every person in a porn video is a harlot, and every person that watches that filth is giving their soul over to it. This is not any different than doing the deed itself with that man or woman. Because you lusted after that person, you also committed adultery with them in your heart. It is very troubling to know that millions of people are giving into their lust, and yielding to it in this fashion. These men and women, in these photos and videos, may be flattering as Solomon said, but they are also full of lies and deceit. Just as a person goes after a stranger because of their beauty, the same thing happens in pornography, when they do so to gain pleasure from the person they are thinking at. Now read Solomon’s story, about a person that went after his passions. He said, 1“passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house, in the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night: And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.” He went after this woman because of her beauty. And note that he was unable to control himself. This is only because his armor was off. He did not give God over to saving him from this adulterous encounter, he was about to have with the woman.
Please Understand that all sex outside of marriage, not between husband and wife, is fornication. This is evil and all fornicators will find themselves in hell, lest they repent. Every person that lives in this fashion is of the world. Every day they are causing others to stumble but you do not have to be the one that gives in. This person may not feel confined to anyone person and therefore feel like they can do whatever they please, but this does not have to be your life. Know this that most of them are only acting out, even though they know better inside, because of how they were raised up to believe in God. Now let’s continue Solomon’s story of how this man fell victim to a harlot. 1“(She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.) So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him, I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows. Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee. I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt. I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves. For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey.” I hope you see the great deception here. And may you be so bold as to run away from this situation, when it happens to you.
Solomon finished his remarks on this adulterous story and I will now tell you how it all went down. Please read this carefully and learn from this man’s mistake. The story continues with the woman, talking about her husband, 1“He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.” And 1“with her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.” Instead of running away, 1“He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.” So is the same person that puts sexual thoughts in their mind and then has sex with a harlot, their boyfriend or girlfriend, or with the person on a screen, with pornography. Because of their fascination, the sexual arouses occur and their actions are uncontrollable. Take note of Solomon’s wisdom here. 1“Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.” 2Hell is real and all fornicators, adulterers, homosexuals, and porn watchers are there in the midst. It is my prayer that you no longer give into the lusts of your heart, no matter how people look. After you have seen them once, stop looking their direction. The longer you look and stare, the worse off you will be. Come to Jesus and repent. Only He can change you from within.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, chapter seven in Proverbs has truly spoken to my heart and I know it was the Holy Spirit that did so. Thank You for bringing to my attention how adultery is so wide spread. My heart is sickened by the world we live in. It is so sad to see people not even realize they are in sin. Lord, come into their lives and take away the blindness from their eyes. May they see the wickedness and abominations they have gotten themselves in with pornography, adultery, fornication and homosexuality. I pray that You convict their hearts of the sexual sins that have them bound. May these people repent and no longer live for the flesh. I know Lord, that the flesh leads to destruction and only by living in the Spirit can we obtain life abundant. Lord, I do not wish to walk away from Your love any longer. I do not wish to please the lusts of the flesh but to please You and to walk in the Spirit, in all things. Take away from my eyes any form of lust. I do not wish it in my life and the lives of those that I love. Please keep me on the straight and narrow path. Lead me away from temptation, that I may no longer stumble, because of the people in this world. My heart is for You Lord. Please wash me and cleanse me when I fall. Keep me always in Your ways. I love You. Amen.
