There will soon be a day when all 1“the transgressors shall be destroyed”. There wicked and evil deeds are recorded in the heavens above. These people may have thought that they got away with certain things, while on earth, but they were wrong. Their punishment will be handed down in judgement. The wicked shall be sore afraid. When we are afflicted by evil men and women on earth, know that the Lord’s vengeance is upon them. If they do not repent, their punishment shall be sore. Listen to David’s prayer, as his people were being afflicted, 2“O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself. Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.” Just like today, people think they can live the way they want. Pride has overtaken so many. Because of this, they are not open to God’s will. In David’s time, the widows and fatherless were being killed. “Yet they say, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.” These people were fools to trifle with God. He see’s everything. 2“The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.” No evil deed is hidden before His face.
Every evil act is known before God, including 3“adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, and revellings.” David may have been speaking of murder, but that is only one thing that will keep people apart from heaven. You may be wondering if a person can love God and still commit such acts. The answer is, everyone falls to temptation. The real question is, have you repented? Anybody committing habitual sin is doing 3“the works of the flesh” and are not for God. Those that 3“do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” What does it take for a sinner to repent? It takes humility before the Lord. It takes a person’s desire to learn from God, in order to change their life. Chastisement is necessary, in order for a change to occur. Speaking of a person who listens to the Lord, 2“blessed is the man whom thou chastenest.” When your foot slips, come to the Lord, that He may lift you up and give you advice. All those that come to the Lord, is able to put off the lusts of the flesh and learn from Him. In turn, the Lord shall be their defense and the rock of their salvation. Through the Spirit, we are able to walk in love, one towards another. Come now and let the Lord set you free.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for everyone that calls themselves Christian to also walk in this fashion. Lord, convict them of their evil deeds, that they may repent. May they take Your chastisement with humility of heart. Help them cast aside their pride. Lord, living in Your Spirit is so important. The ways of the flesh is of the world. So many people are living in this fashion and don’t even know it. Wake them up, this day. Set a revival in their hearts to change their lives for You. If there are addictions in their hearts, break those chains. I pray for a new desire to follow You. Lord, give me strength to live what I say is true. Help me to live out my faith in righteousness. I am grateful for Your Spirit. Help me to continually walk in it daily. If there is anything keeping me from Your Spirit, I give it all to You, Jesus. I love You more. Amen.
