Chapter 15 (BOMC)

Nearly every single chapter of the Book of Mormon is a contradiction of the Bible.  2 Nephi, chapter 26, is just one of those chapters. It's funny how bad these verses are when you consider the timeframe they were written in. They claim that in the year 559 B.C., the people in this book knew the name of Jesus. These verses read, “for the Spirit of the Lord will not always strive with man. And when the Spirit ceaseth to strive with man then cometh speedy destruction, and this grieveth my soul. And as I spake concerning the convincing of the Jews, that Jesus is the very Christ, it must needs be that the Gentiles be convinced also that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God; And that he manifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the Holy Ghost; yea, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, working mighty miracles, signs, and wonders, among the children of men according to their faith.” (2 Nephi 26:11-13) Joseph Smith wrote the name Jesus, Jesus Christ, and Jesus the Christ, in his book in order for it to sound Biblical.  Therefore, these people are more privileged to know the name of Jesus than even His people in Israel.

The Book of Mormon has many references to the name Jesus, Christ or Jesus Christ. See 2 Nephi, chapters 25,26,30,31, and 33 as just a few examples. There are many other chapters too. The point of the matter is that the Lord’s Name is being used before His birth.  This is the case in most of the chapters except for those starting in 3 Nephi, chapter 11. The Bible does not reveal the Name, Jesus, until his genealogy was written in Matthew, chapter 1.  This is when the angel Gabriel came to Joseph and told him to name the baby, Jesus.  Knowing this, it is apparent that Jesus's name was added to Joseph's book without thinking of the consequences.  With the Lord’s name not being mentioned until His glorious birth, this is a glaring problem. Having Jesus's name in a book makes it sound better, but doesn't make it true. It claims to be "Another Testament of Jesus Christ", but is it? Seeing how Jesus is supposedly speaking to the people, this doesn't automatically make it scripture. Visitations from Jesus are fine, but the knowledge of His name before his birth is not.  Seeing that this is the case, and that many people knew His name before coming to earth, makes this book fiction.  It is a clear sign that this book is false. Do not trust it.

In the Bible, you will see that there are no references to the Name, Jesus, Christ or Jesus Christ, until Matthew 1:1. It is written, “the book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:1,18-21) This is the first written account in the Bible where Jesus’s name is given to mankind. Nowhere in the Old Testament is His name used like this. Only with Jesus’s genealogy do we learn about His name.  I conclude that the Bible can be trusted and the Book of Mormon cannot, as Jesus’s name was not known before His birth.

Nobody knew or used the name Jesus, or Christ in the Old Testament. The Book of Mormon people were not more important than God’s people in Israel. If anything, you see Joseph Smith’s words in these deceitful writings.  I'll give him credit for trying to make different verses sound Biblical. Truly, the devil uses a false prophet to make people believe in a false book. Paul warned us about giving in to false teachers. Don’t believe in these lies that come from the Book of Mormon. These are fictional characters that appear to be real. It is written, “for such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15) It is my invitation for every member of the LDS church to take a hard look at the Old Testament.  Jesus’s name was not known then, and therefore, it would not be in the Book of Mormon also. Let us pray:
Oh Lord, thank You for showing me different issues in the Book of Mormon. Those include the blatant falsehood of people in the Book of Mormon knowing Your name before Your birth. Where people in Israel did not. If this knowledge was readily available, wouldn't your own people be aware of it? Sure, the Book sounds Biblical, but only because Your name is woven into its pages from the beginning. This doesn’t make sense when we examine the same timeline in the Bible. Your name remained unknown until the angel Gabriel revealed it to Mary and Joseph. I believe that the account in Matthew is the first time Your name was spoken.  Open the eyes of the LDS people, that they may see. It is a big red flag to see Your name in their book before Your birth, Jesus. Thank You for showing me how serious an issue this really is. I love You, Lord. Have Your way in my life. Amen.
