Jesus's Name In His Church's Name

Those who are LDS believe that Christ's church needs to have His name in it. Notice in the name of their church, Jesus’s name is in it. And so, they claim that they are Christ’s church. LDS missionaries say that they are doing God’s will because Jesus’s Name is on their name tag. But anyone can slap Jesus’s name on things and claim they are for God. Mormons get the belief that Jesus’s name has to be in His Church’s name because of the following verses in their Book of Mormon. Jesus is supposedly speaking when He said this. “And Jesus again showed himself unto them, for they were praying unto the Father in his name; and Jesus came and stood in the midst of them, and said unto them: What will ye that I shall give unto you?” (3 Nephi 27:2) “And how be it my church save it be called in my name? For if a church be called in Moses’ name then it be Moses’ church; or if it be called in the name of a man then it be the church of a man; but if it be called in my name then it is my church, if it so be that they are built upon my gospel.” (3 Nephi 27:8) Therefore, they use this verse to prove that Jesus’s will be in His church’s name or else it is false and not of God.

The question is, does the Bible speak of Jesus’s name being required in His church's name? Absolutely not. Read the following verses for yourself. This first church is called, “Church of God.“ It is written, “take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” (Acts 20:28) The second church is called, “Church of The Living God. “ It is written, “but if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” (1 Timothy 3:15) And the third church is called, “Church of The Firstborn.“ It is written, “to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.” (Hebrews 12:23) The Book of Revelation references many churches in different cities, like Ephesus and more. So, if anybody says that Jesus’s name must be in the church’s name, what will you tell them? We can use the word of God to show people that this is not true. Therefore, what the Book of Mormon teaches about God’s church is a major contradiction with the Bible. The books conflict with one another.

There is no religion that can save a person from their sins and lead them to heaven. Jesus alone has the power to save. Anyone who disagrees is a fraud and has no authority from God. He doesn't send people to tell lies, but the devil does. I often wonder how bishops, priests and pastors get the nerve to tell their congregation that only their church's baptism saves. These are wolves in sheep’s clothing. This teaching is hypocrisy when compared to what God’s Word teaches on this topic. If these people would read the Bible, then they would know that Christ is the head of the church. We as His true believers make up His body. It is not a building or religion that saves anyone, but through God's grace can a person be saved. People in the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints need to repent for teaching that only their church's baptism counts. The Mormon church is not grounded on Jesus, but their own self-made religion. It is not unto salvation. To tell a person that their religion is the one true church is false. A baptism in their church doesn’t do anything but adds to its membership. Jesus is Lord. Only He has the power to save us from our sins.

Believers in Christ are the members of His body. Each person has a gift from God, in which the Lord uses in His church. It is written, “for as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12:12) Jesus “is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead.” (Colossians 1:18) Paul said, “for by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.” (1 Corinthians 12:13,14) There are believers in a variety of different Bible-believing churches. Out of them are found true believers in Jesus, and are His members. Those who believe in and follow Jesus are part of His true church. Jesus is the only way to heaven, not a specific religion or denomination. Salvation comes through Christ alone and no other. Do not be deceived. Lastly, Paul said, “in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.” (Colossians 1:22) This type of faith in Jesus will save your soul from death to life eternal. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people of different churches will wake up to their false beliefs. These false church leaders are wolves in sheep’s clothing and need to repent for leading people astray. It is very sad to see people be duped by their false teachings. But I know how convincing the spirit of the devil really is. Truly, Satan is the father of all lies. He has the power to deceive the very elect and make them doubt Your gospel message and teachings. Lord, I love Your truth.  Not what I think is true, but what You have revealed to me through the Bible and through prayer. One thing I know is that not every person has all the right answers.  For this reason, we must check our beliefs with Your Words, then can You lead us out of every false way and into the knowledge of the truth. Thank You for taking me out of the darkness and into Your light. I was lost in my own pride, willful sins, and unbelief until You found me.  You had compassion for my soul. Truly, I did not know that You were such a merciful God until Your peace came over me, and I was forgiven. It is my prayer that more people experience Your matchless love, while in Your presence. I love You, Jesus. I give You glory. Amen.
