After the flood, God told Noah one of His commandments, ” Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man.” In other words, “Thou shalt not kill”. From the beginning of time this was an important commandment. God made us for a purpose and when one kills another it disrupts God’s will. There may only be a small percentage of people in the world that are murderers but there are a big percent of our younger generation that are into hardcore gaming. You may think that gaming is not a sin, however if that game leads you to think of killing another person than it is a sin. Jesus said, “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Notice that He said that even lusting is committing the sin of adultery. God takes into account our thoughts. If we have any intention to kill another person in real life or in a game we are sinning. If you are involved in a game that involves killing another person, think of how you feel when you play. Does the game bring in the Spirit of God or drive it away? I pray that if any of you play these types of games, that you stop today. Give it up for God. It may seem hard at first but it will be liberating to your soul. It will be very hard to discover a relationship with God if these types of games are in our lives.
I’ll admit that I was once addicted to hardcore gaming. I’d play shoot-em-up and other killing games and not think twice about it. I started off just enjoying the graphics in the games and then I started enjoying the killing aspect as well. I always thought, it doesn’t matter, they aren’t real people. I would say these things to justify my time playing them. When I played, it was always intense and kept me interested. However, I always felt this dark feeling inside. It took away valuable time from God and my family. It ate into my family’s finances. It caused me to have bad thoughts and bad dreams. It wasn’t until someone asked me how my life was with God that I felt so small. God was nowhere to be found. I didn’t feel close to Him at all. I knew that if I didn’t change my life that I would one day fear judgement before God. So I decided that hour that I was done playing those types of games. I prayed to God that my heart would be healed for it was filled with darkness and distress. I prayed that my mind would be liberated for it was filled with all kinds of filth. When I gave my heart to God I could feel the Spirit coming over me. His mercy extended towards me. I was forgiven of my sins. God breathed upon me His Spirit and my heart and mind were cleansed. Come to the Lord. Live your life to give Him praise. Lift up your hands and worship Him.
Matthew 5:28
28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Genesis 9:5-7
5 Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man.
6 “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man.
7 And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth And multiply in it.”
