Jesus Is God
1. Jesus is called the First and the Last, the beginning and the end. He is God. Before he came to earth, He was Spirit like his Father in heaven. Many people saw him in the Old Covenant times, including Abraham, Jacob, Moses, and others. Israel may not realize that Jesus is their God, but He is still. He is the Lord, our God, and has been since the beginning of time. The I Am, of which the Jews wanted to stone Him for making Himself out to be God. “Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.” (John 8:57-59)
Jesus Is Our Creator
2. All things’ heaven above and earth beneath was created by God. This is important to note since we learn that Jesus is that creator. Nothing was created that He was not part of. God created the Earth and everything on it, including mountains, oceans, sea creatures, land animals, people, trees, and more. This includes the angels in heaven, including Lucifer, making Him his creator and not brother. He is the greatest architect. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:1-4)
Jesus is Our Judge
3. There will only be one judge on judgment day and that is King Jesus. In this life, people make good and bad judgment calls all the time. But after our time in paradise or hell, we will all go before Him. Those in paradise will receive their resurrected body to life eternal and their rewards. Those in hell, will receive a resurrected body that can die and be cast into the lake of fire. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. ” (2 Corinthians 5:8-11)
Jesus Is The Messiah
4. Jesus was prophesied as the promised Messiah hundreds of years before His birth. Many people prophesied of this. Jacob prophesied of Him coming through the line of Judah. Isaiah saw Him being born of a virgin and being called Emmanuel, God with us. We know through Micah that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. “Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes.” (Genesis 49:9-11)
Jesus Became Flesh
5. Jesus came down to earth and became flesh. He was born of a virgin (Mary), and dwelt among us. His purpose was to take away the sins of this world. He was fully God and fully man, while still having the power to heal and do many mighty miracles. Many times he spoke in parables, and those who have the Holy Spirit understand them. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) “These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” (John 1:28,29)
Jesus Suffered For Our Sins
6. Jesus was raised up on the cross and died for our sins. Like lambs before Him were killed for the transgressions of the people, he became the last Lamb to die for our sins. No longer did high priests need to atone for the sins of the people through the death of an animal. Jesus is the Lamb of God. Forgiveness is granted to those who accept Him. “Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.” (Hebrews 10:9-12)
Jesus Rose From The Grave
7. On the third day, Jesus defeated the grave and ascended up into heaven. He was seen by his disciples, and over 700 different people. The Lord also spent some time with His disciples before leaving this earth. He left us the Holy Spirit and dwells with us through Him. We are not comfortless, for God is with us. “And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:9-11)
Jesus Is Coming Back
8. There will be a second coming of our Lord Jesus. He will come down in the clouds in the same fashion He left. Nobody knows when He is coming, not even Jesus, but the Father who sends Him. This time He will come with a sword. Those who are for Him will be caught up in the air to be with Him forever in the resurrection, but those who are against him will be destroyed. “But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 24:48-51)
