There is real proof that the Book of Mormon is false and I will show you today. Truly, “in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” (2 Corinthians 13:1) My evidence comes from two chapters of the Bible when comparing two different chapters in the Book of Mormon. The stories are vastly different stories when comparing the Book of Mormon with the Bible. In 2 Kings, chapter 25, and Jeremiah, chapter 39, we learn that the sons of Zedekiah were killed before the eyes of the king. Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, first killed the sons of Zedekiah before their father, and then put out the eyes of Zedekiah. However, the Book of Mormon teaches a different story, where a son of Zedekiah escaped. This one son being called, “Mulek”, of which came to America. See for yourself how this is a huge contradiction to the Bible and also the smoking gun as to why the Book of Mormon is not to be trusted. These are the verses in the Bible that I am referring to…
“And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him. So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him. And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.” (2 Kings 25:5-7)
“But the Chaldeans’ army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him. Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah. Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.” (Jeremiah 39:5-7)
And now read the two chapters in the Book of Mormon that teach that one son escaped death and came to America. Truly, people need to make a choice. They will either believe the Bible to be true or the Book of Mormon. You cannot believe in both, especially when the stories do not line up with each, but contradict. Therefore, people have to make a choice as to what book they want to believe in. And this should not be the case if the Book of Mormon is also scripture. If both books are true they would complement each other and not collide with one another, as they do in so many different verses. This specific contradiction would not exist either if the Book of Mormon was true. In saying this, these are the two places in the Book of Mormon that teach that a son of Zedekiah was not killed but escaped. It comes from Helaman, chapters 6, and 8. These verses read….
“And it came to pass that they became exceedingly rich, both the Lamanites and the Nephites; and they did have an exceeding plenty of gold, and of silver, and of all manner of precious metals, both in the land south and in the land north. Now the land south was called Lehi, and the land north was called Mulek, which was after the son of Zedekiah; for the Lord did bring Mulek into the land north, and Lehi into the land south.” (Helaman 6:9,10)
“And now will you dispute that Jerusalem was destroyed? Will ye say that the sons of Zedekiah were not slain, all except it were Mulek? Yea, and do ye not behold that the seed of Zedekiah are with us, and they were driven out of the land of Jerusalem? But behold, this is not all.” (Helaman 8:21)
The proof is in the pudding. All I hope for is for Mormons to think for themselves. To put aside what they have been taught concerning the Book of Mormon and consider it being false. This is not an accusation that can easily be put to rest when it comes to the sons of Zedekiah. I even knocked on a door where a young man at the 17 answered. He was a Mormon getting ready for his mission and his dad was a Bishop in his ward. In saying this, I presented the two places in the Bible that state the sons of Zedekiah were killed before the king’s eyes and the two places in the Book of Mormon which state that a son escaped. I then asked him if he could believe in the Book of Mormon and the Bible if what the Bible says is true and he said “no”. He would have to choose one story over another, but not believe in both books. We then talked to him for the next hour and a half and his heart was more and more open to the truth of God. In conclusion, allow the Lord to speak to your heart. If the Book of Mormon is false, like we say it is, don’t give up on the Bible also. It is still true, along with Jesus being God. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people in the Mormon church will have an open heart to the truth. Not the truth that people proclaim but what You proclaim through the Holy Spirit. I have found the smoking gun in the Bible that proves the Book of Mormon false, although many people will disregard the message and never read it, lest their beliefs come into question. That is all I am asking for. For people to contemplate what they would do if the Book of Mormon was false. Would they turn to You in their sins and unbelief and ask for Your forgiveness, or turn to atheism, which isn’t any better? Thankfully, I had to make this decision in 2012, and I am so happy I chose You. I would not be where I am today if You, Lord, had not been by my side. You have been with me the entire time. I was in darkness for most of my life, but all this dissipated the moment my heart was turned to You, Jesus, in my confessions. Your mercy and forgiveness endure forever, even for a person as sinful as myself. Thank You for giving me another chance at life and life eternal in the next. I give You the glory and the praise. Your Word, the Bible, is the true scripture for mankind. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
