Why is it that Mormons are so hard to talk to when we only want to share the truth of the Bible with them? I wonder this since they send off their missionaries expecting people to listen to them, but in the same sense not to pay attention to people who challenge their faith. This makes no sense to us Christians, who only wish to share God’s truth and love with them. They don’t realize that Christians who encounter them with the truth are filled with the Holy Spirit and for them to reject our message they are also rejecting God. Is it hard for them to understand that God is leading people outside their religion? As Christians, we only wish to find real answers to questions like… Where does the Bible teach anything about eternal marriage? What about giving people a second chance of going to heaven after death? How people need to be baptized to be saved. That the Father has a body. What about Jesus atoning for our sins in the garden? “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Colossians 2:8)
As a believer in God and one who knows the Bible, I know it doesn’t teach any of these things mentioned above. Therefore, I have to ask them, why believe and teach these things? Is it because you trust in the teachings of men over what the Bible says? Or is it that you put Joseph Smith and other prophets above God? And so their teachings trump what the Lord says. This type of thinking comes from someone who is being led by the devil and not God. Who would want people to try Christian teachings and have people doubt what the Bible says? This is Satan. No wonder why Christians believe the Mormon religion to be a cult. The truth is, we love them. We don’t Bible bash, but actually share God’s truth with them from God’s Word. If only they would open their heart and begin to listen to God’s messengers, then they could break free from the bondage they are in and come to a saving faith in Jesus. We are working in His harvest and long for even one of the ninety and nine to be saved. “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?” (Luke 15:4) Only Jesus saves, not religion. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for these lost souls in Mormonism. They don’t realize it, but their works are all in vain. Their temple works are of the devil and nothing of it is founded in You. If only they could see this, then they would repent and give up the beliefs they know and come to You. Not to become atheists, but to find out who You really are God and no longer make up a God in their own minds. I am very saddened, God, when I hear about Mormons who are now atheists and have no desire to come to You in faith. Do these people not realize that being a part of this cult and becoming an atheist isn’t any different? Surely, Christians only want to help them know You, Jesus, but they keep denying this chance. I do not wish to see any more Mormons dig a hole that is hard to get out of. Therefore, lead me and other Christians by the power of the Holy Spirit to people who are searching for You and Your truth. Help me to be a light to those who are lost. May these people see You in me, Jesus, and rejoice in You, my Father. I love You, Jesus. I give You the glory and the praise. Have Your way in my life. I trust in You. Amen.
