God is good to those who seek Him with a clean heart. They know Him and He then does many great things in their lives. It is envy that causes people to doubt the Lord. Because many unbelievers are rich and famous and not Christian, this leads people to wonder why. They appear to be healthy and happy while we are often persecuted, poor, and have health issues. These wicked people have extravagant tombstones placed on their gravesites upon death, while many believers can hardly afford a normal gravestone and casket. As David said, “truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.” (Psalm 73:1-5) Truly, the wicked are ever trying to accomplish more but never find their real reward in Christ.
Unbelievers are carrying one huge flaw and that is pride. Even behind closed doors is their violence seen in many of their households. This comes from drinking problems, drugs or pornographic images in their homes, sex outside of marriage, homosexual relations, allowing their kids to do what they want instead of teaching them to know God, and many other things. David continued and said, “therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.” (Psalm 73:6-9) My friends, what these people are most missing is Jesus and His atoning blood upon their lives. Without God, everything they’ve achieved and gained in this life is meaningless, while there are mansions n heaven for Christians. No more death or sorrow. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for every Christian to not give in to envy. We may not be well off like many unbelievers are. They may have the best doctors on earth to keep them healthy and fit, while we have what our insurance can cover. But God, these people are missing out on one important thing and that is You. They have built their lives upon what this world can offer them while neglecting what You can do for and through us in this life and into heaven. Lord, how can I be envious of anybody when I have everything with You? I may not have the best house, but still,l I have a bed to sleep on, and food on the table, which is more than most. God, as I am given more than I should, lead me to people in need so that their needs may be met also. Help me and others to be more giving than receiving. Our riches are not on this earth but are built up in heaven. We may not have the best things in life, but we have Your peace that is beyond our understanding. I love You, Jesus. You are enough for me. Amen.
Lord, help us to live as if we have one foot in heaven and one foot here on earth. This brief time here will amount to nothing compared to what you have planned for us. Please draw out eyes and hearts to you,
Amen! We must follow Jesus Christ and not concern ourselves with the good life of others, especially unbelievers who are on their way to hell. We must serve Jesus Christ always.
