One really strange teaching in the Mormon church is found in Ezekiel, chapter 37. They see the stick of Joseph as the Book of Mormon and the stick of Judah as the Bible. They claim Lehi, who supposedly came to America in the Book of Mormon is from the seed of Joseph, whereas the people in Israel are from the seed of Judah. This is a teaching that circulates among the LDS church members and even their missionaries. They don’t even think twice that this may be false. So let’s take these beliefs and check them with this chapter in the Bible to see if what they claim is true or not. These are the verses I am referring to, along with a question that asks what is meant by these two sticks. It is written, “the word of the Lord came again unto me, saying, moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions: And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand. And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?” (Ezekiel 37:15-18) Now, I am sure you are interested in knowing the true explanation from the Bible.
With any teaching from a church or person, it must also check the boxes with the teachings of the Bible also for it to be of God. Thankfully, we have the explanation of these two sticks and they are not two books, but the northern and southern kingdoms in Israel coming together. It is written, “say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand. And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes. And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.” (Ezekiel 37:19-22) And so we learn of these two tribes of Israel coming together, which is so wonderful. Therefore, we can put this argument to rest about the sticks being the Book of Mormon and Bible. I rebuke this false teaching in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that Mormons will wake up to their false beliefs while they still have time. It is easy to see how led astray they are by the doctrines of men when I examine their beliefs with the Bible. What is difficult, however, is talking sense into them if they were brought up in it or have a strong influence around them that are Mormons. These are hard-hearted individuals and we need Your help. They are so quick to teach us a lesson from their church and hope we will listen, but hardly ever do they care to pay attention if a Christian comes to teach them. So I have to ask, what has caused these people to claim they are for You, but at the same time show serious issues when it comes to their ridiculous teachings. How is it that their eyes have become so blinded, that no matter what I share with them, they cannot see the truth, let alone care to see it? How is it that Satan has infiltrated their church in such a way that to convince them of the truth of God is like pulling teeth? I do thank You for the dozens of Mormons I have prayed for these last many years. Many of them have come out of that cult and to know You personally. Praise God! I just ask that more people will also turn from the path of destruction and be set on solid ground that leads to heaven. I believe in You, God. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
