A false teaching in Mormonism is that everybody who has ever lived and died are children of God. They even sing a song called, “I Am A Child Of God”. They proclaim this because of their belief in the pre-existence. An apostle from their church named, Marion G. Romney has said, “you and I were there and so were all the rest of the spirit children of God our Father who were designated for life upon this earth.” And being born on this earth, people remain God’s children. This is including every person from every religion, including atheists and agnostics. Nobody has to do anything in order to be called a child of God. But the question that needs to be asked is this, do they not read all the passages in the Bible that say that we are not all children of God? The Bible is clear on this. All we have to do is turn to the book of Matthew, chapter 5, and we will see what Jesus said concerning becoming a child of God. Looking at verse 9, it reads, “blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” (Matthew 5:9) So is everyone a child of God? No. Jesus said the peacemakers are called his children. Now to help us know who these peacemakers are, we can find this answer from Jesus as we read further in this chapter.
Jesus said, “ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” (Matthew 5:43-45) Peacemakers are those who believe in Jesus, who are often persecuted because of their beliefs. They are peacemakers in the way they pray for people and not retaliate against them. Although people may try to tear down our faith in Jesus or hurt us because of our faith, we treat them in return with love. This is fulfilling what Jesus said about being peacemakers. The same people are called the “children of God”. We don’t make this determination but the Lord our God. In conclusion, this Mormon belief that we are all children of God is false. They are taking it upon themselves to call people a child of God when only God can do this. Therefore, they are making themselves out to be God’s, of which they want to be, by thinking they know better, which is blaphemy. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will learn from You and not the teachings of men. How can this happen? They need to begin to search the Bible in order to know if what they believe in is from You or from people. May more people do this and come to You, Jesus, for salvation. Even as I pray, the Mormon church has infiltrated homes all over the world, while teaching a false gospel. They lower the need to get right with You in this life, for they teach that people can be saved in the next. They also teach that we are all Your children and that we do not have to do anything to be called Your child. Truly, they have taken what You have spoken through Your witnesses in the Bible and have desecrated and put down Your words. Even the cross is not important to them, for they put emphasis on Gethsemane instead. Lord, I rebuke these false witnesses in this cult. Most of them don’t even realize that they are led astray through their false prophets, which is really a shame. What I ask of You is to wake these people up from their sleep. May more people come to know You through Your true teachings in the Bible. Then, can they unlearn the lies in Mormonism and come out of it for Your sake. I trust in You. I love You. Amen.
