To know what needs to be like as a Christian, the answer comes from God’s roadmap to us, the Bible. So let us open the Bible together in Philippines, chapter 2, and give ear to God. Paul taught, “if there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:1-5) As a follower of Jesus, we also desire to have His same mindset in us. So we pray for His love to fill us daily, that we may treat others with love also. Even as we do this as a church body, we become one in mind in the Lord. So all the strife and contention are removed and replaced with His joy. We are so grateful for the cross and what He has done for us. This gratitude changes how we even treat one another.
Paul also said the following about Jesus. “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:6-11) Jesus is our perfect example of how to live a life that pleases God. Follow in His footsteps and you will not be led astray. One day every person will kneel before Jesus, our Lord, and King. Those who loved and followed Jesus will kneel down with honor to their beloved king. While others will bow down knowing it is too late for them to be saved. Therefore, I pray that many souls will be saved before it is too late.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that You will help conform us into the person we ought to be. Since You are perfect in all Your ways, abide with us that we might also learn to live like You. Help us to love others the way they should be treated, not the way our flesh desires to treat or ignore people wrongfully. Help us to act and speak to people like You would on earth. Open our mouths and fill it with the Holy Spirit. I trust that my life can be much different if You are using me for Your glory. It is a blessing to be in a church that honors You in their worship and in what they do outside the church doors also. What we need is more unity in the faith. But this can only happen if You are leading us. If other people’s needs are being met, then I know that You are in control and not me. Only You can help me to become more selfless, kind, loving, and respectful. May these traits become who I am day in and day out. I believe in You, Lord. I love You. Amen.
