Jesus is the only one who can save our marriage. His presence alone will bring the love that we are missing now. And always remember Paul’s admonition for the church in his time when it comes to marriage also. He said, “let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.” (1 Corinthians 7:3-5) These verses are so important to remember and do in our marriage. Benevolence means displaying kindness, which we do one to another. Not having power over our body but our spouse means becoming one in intimacy and not keeping ourselves sexually from our spouse. We pay attention to our spouse also, which helps them trust you enough to pray and fast with you. This is trusting in God in action, which helps lead us from temptation.
God bless your marriage. I pray that your marriage is going well. Allow the Lord to lead both of you at all times and in all places. Only then will there be love and harmony in your marriage. I love both of you and so does God. Remember this as you go forward in your married life. There will be ups and downs that you will face individually and as a couple. There will be health problems, job losses, bad habits to deal with, differences that will be hard to deal with at times, possible addictions, and other things that will cause drama, arguments, and more. But if you want your marriage to continue through the trials of life, both people in the marriage need to abide in God’s presence. If you both are constant in prayer and reading the Bible daily, then His love will flow down into your marriage also. This will bring the kind of love, harmony, and even romance we need to endure. So remember Jesus at all times. Then will you be led in the ways of righteousness, which is also unto salvation. If you wish to be saved, wouldn’t it be great if your spouse was also. You both can. Simply put your trust in Jesus and it will happen. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for every marriage in my family, my friend’s families, co-workers, and others in this world also. What I am seeing are marriages that are struggling. People giving up hope because of a lack of love and trust in their marriage. Things have happened and they are now considering getting a divorce. This is so sad. Help them, Lord. I know that I have been very close to divorce also. Thank You, God, that it did not happen and I am still with my wife after 14, almost 15 years. Time has passed by faster than I thought. My two daughters are growing up before my eyes and I am so grateful that they did not have to deal with separate families because of divorce. Sure, my wife and I don’t always get along. We have our shortcomings and a number of arguments also. The only thing that has kept this marriage together is my great faith in You, Jesus. If you were not with me, then I may have given up a long time ago. So thank You for Your daily encouragement to carry on and to trust that things will get better. The same I hope and pray for other marriages also. If other couples would just look to You in faith, then the thoughts of divorce would leave them. You are our Savior, Jesus. I trust in You. Amen.
