Lust Is The Downfall For Most Christians

Lust is the downfall for most Christians who walk away from the faith. And I am not saying this doesn’t happen with women, but there is something in men’s flesh that causes them to fall more often than them. This is because men so often allow their eyes to be removed from Jesus and onto the things of this world instead. Because other things have taken their attention away from reading the Bible, praying, and serving God, their willpower to resist temptation is greatly diminished. A life like is without God’s protection and they will never win the battle against sin on their own accord. And if this happens for a long time, without it being checked and repented of, it will eventually become a huge detriment to their life and even others around them. People who once looked up to them, may now have their own faith tarnished because of what has happened in their life. My friends, sexual sin, including porn, is not something to take lightly or justify in any way. You do not want to let this lead you away from the saving hands of our Savior Jesus, our Lord. So what do we do when we see that lust and temptation is at the door, we run from it. Yes, we run from sin and begin to pray like never before. Just like Joseph of Egypt ran away from the Pharaoh’s wife when tempted to lie with her sexually, we look to his great example and do the same.

Now let us learn Joseph and how he dealt with being tempted to lie with most likely a very beautiful women, in Potiphar’s wife. It was at this time that it was written, “and it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within. And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.” (Genesis 39:7-12) It is true that we sin against God when we give into sexual sin. Therefore, run from it all costs, while running into the arms of the Father, who will give you a new heart with new desires. With God’s protection, you will find victory against every temptation possible. Just remember to abide in Jesus daily and you will be safe from the enemy.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that You will keep our hands pure before You. Help us think clearly and not lust upon others. What I’ve realized is that the flesh is weak, especially when it comes to sexual sin, or what people would call sexual immorality. The flesh desires such things, especially when temptations come our way, but we often don’t realize what we have done until the deed is done. It is at this point that we can continue to hide our sins before people and hope it doesn’t come to the light, or finally come to grips with it and repent before You, God. The latter is what I desire most people would do, but I am afraid more people than not are justifying their sinful actions, while continuing to hide things from people they love. What they do not realize is that it is a lie from the pit of hell that anything can be hidden from Your sight. Even can people who are filled with the Holy Spirit see when people have fallen into sin also. You give us new eyes and ears to discern if a person is sincere or not in the faith. There are able to do so many things for those that put their faith and trust in You. Surely, You are mighty to save the least of us. Therefore, do I look to You, Lord, every hour. I love You more than anything else. Amen.
