May you always remember how merciful our God is. In Psalm 136, we learn that God’s 1“mercy endureth for ever.” In all things does His mercy remain. Everything that happens in life speaks out about God’s mercy. I will speak on nine of these things today. 1“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good”. If there is one person that has lived a good life, but was humble about it, it was Jesus. In His life, there was no sin but love for one another. 1“O give thanks unto the God of gods.” Jesus is God and is above all other forms of worship. Any other worship, besides the Father, is idolatry. 1“O give thanks to the Lord of lords”. There is no other person that comes before God. Let us make sure we worship the Lord and that nothing else comes before Him. 1“To him who alone doeth great wonders.” Only the Lord God can do miracles in our lives. He only has the power to change our hearts and point us on the right path. 1“To him that by wisdom made the heavens.” The Lord Jesus is our creator and loves us so much. Men and women were created from God, so that they may become one flesh in marriage. This was the perfect way from the beginning.
The last half of this chapter helps us remember what the Lord has done for us. Speaking of the Lord Jesus, 1“who remembered us in our low estate”. He surely showed this compassion while on the cross. He suffered and died, that we might be forgiven. Jesus is so merciful to forgive us as sinners. Each of us were trapped by the temptations of the evil one until the Lord saved us. He 1“hath redeemed us from our enemies.” All evil is cast out of our lives, that the Spirit may take control and lead us to God. The Lord, 1“giveth food to all flesh”. As we open our whole hearts to God, we are filled. The Holy Spirit is able to usher in peace to our lives. Through God’s direction, we walk from darkness and into His light. 1“O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.” I pray that you do so. Remember the Lord in all things, in your life. Keep God in your hearts, always, in prayer. When you feel tempted, come to God for protection. Our faith can only be lifted up as we seek the Lord in prayer and His Word. In service and love towards others, do we take the teachings of Jesus to heart. Surely the mercy of God, propels us to live for Him.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, surely Your mercy is in all things. You are so merciful to take me in, when I am broken. Your mercy is displayed, each time that I sin but come back to You for forgiveness. In repentance, I can feel Your mercy, as You change my heart from within. You are oh so merciful to usher in the Spirit, that I might have Your protection. I would be so far gone if You were not there to show me grace. Your love and kindness tells me how merciful our God is. I do not deserve Your love but still it is on full display. You never stop loving me. You never stop showing me mercy and compassion. Even when I need You most, You are there for me. I once thought that You could never forgive me but now I know that You can never give me enough mercy. I was so wrong about You. You do love me and continue to show me mercy. I love You Jesus. Amen.
