Great is the God of the heavens. 1“Sing unto God, sing praises to his name.” He is worthy of all praise. He is all powerful and at the same time so kind. He knows all things but also knows that we can change. The Lord is ever patient. He is also waiting for us to know Him and even return to Him. Just like the first time that we came to know Him and were convicted of our sins, this can come at any time of our lives. 2There is always a time for refreshing in our hearts and minds. It is good to know where we stand with God, in order to have the Holy Spirit in our lives. After coming to know about God’s goodness, it is important to reflect on our lives now. Is the presence of God in our lives? Is the Spirit of God doing things for God’s kingdom, within us? Or are we still looking in but haven’t yet tasted the goodness of God. It is one thing to know about it and another to live to know it. How often do we come to know things in the flesh very well but often are left wondering about things in the spirit. Wouldn’t it be amazing if the table was turned. If somehow your heart was given to God and His wisdom was poured down upon you, how wonderful would that be. You would be left gazing at the mercy and grace of God. This can happen. The more you reflect on God and read His words, you won’t help but be encaptured by His awesome presence. His gifts will poor down from heaven upon you.
The times that I am far from God are the times that I am either in sin or not reading God’s Word. It is always one thing or the other. It is the guilt of sin that tries to tell me that God doesn’t love me. How could he forgive someone such as I? We tell ourselves. Satan puts these thoughts in our minds to deter us from the truth. He doesn’t want us to read the Bible or pray, for we would know that God does love us. He has never stopped caring for our needs. 2No matter how far we have strayed there is always a time for refreshing. The longer we stay in this state, the Spirit of God will be nonexistent. The same can be said when we neglect to read God’s Word and look to other things instead. Not reading, leads to less prayers as well. This is detrimental to not only my soul but anybody living this way. We must make a choice to come back to God and repent, after we sin. God 1“bringeth out those which are bound with chains” and breaks them free from all bondage. Confess and forsake your sins at the feet of Jesus. Then dive into His Words and seek the Lord often in prayer. In doing so, you will notice a change, after a while. Slowly, the Spirit of God will come back into your life like a fire. If you allow God in, He will start to move inside your life. No matter how many times you have fallen, just come back to God. Don’t give up on your faith. Jesus does save. He is the way to eternal life. Follow Him and you will be saved.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, lead me out of temptation. Make it so the enemy has no power over me. Fight for my cause that I might win the battle. Lead me from the ways of the flesh and into Your light. Help me to live in Your Spirit and understand Your ways. When I fall, pick me back up, when I come to You. Help me to not be consumed in my grief and sorrow. Help me to lay it all at Your feet that I might grow from these experiences. I know what happens when I neglect you for too long. I grow so distant from You that it saddens my soul. I no longer desire to be apart from You. May my desire to read the Bible intensify each day. May my desire to pray increase. You are the way to eternal life. I know what the world offers and it is destruction. I want what continues for eternity and that is Your gifts. I give my life to live for You. I love You. Amen.
