Marriage Founded On God

The Lord should be the biggest part of our lives. We are to put all of our trust in Him. Everything we long for should be found in the Lord. For this reason we are to seek a spouse that loves God. If we let the Lord guide our lives, we will be led to a valiant Christian. A person that has good morals and high standards. If we look at the heart and not just the outward appearance we will find the most perfect spouse, our “One True Love”. He or She will have all the characteristics we need to be happy. They will have a zeal to love and cherish us all the days of our lives. All it takes is faith in God. Abraham, knew that the Lord would prepare a wife for his son Isaac. Therefore He told his servant to let the Lord help him find his son a spouse. When the servant discovered Rebekah, she did exactly what the Lord said she would do. She gave him and his camels a drink of water at the well. She was kind and considerate of him. This is the kind of person we need in our lives. We need someone that will stick with us through the hard times. We need something that will nurture and care for us always. Just as the Lord’s grace is for everyone, we are to be ever so kind to our spouse. As the Lord is so merciful, let forgiveness always be in your heart for the one you love.

Marriage isn’t always easy. This is because our wedding doesn’t always start off in the ways of the Lord. Instead people misinterpret lust for love. When infatuation takes over our lives we can only be happy for so long before contention arises. Over time our spouse will age and may not look the same as in the past. If we don’t get a hand on our cravings, our eyes will start to wander. Before long pornography will enter our home and take us captive. However, this can be alleviated by founding your principles on God. Even if you have already gone this far, there still is hope. Nothing we’ve done can hinder the love of God. The Lord is always there for us if we let Him in. Make a commitment this day to love your spouse through thick and thin. Let the Lord strip out any lustful natures. Put down the things of the flesh and live for God. The things of the Lord will bring our marriage the most joy of all. Let His words be taught in your home. Bear your children up in the truths of the gospel of Jesus. Let your home be a place of prayer to God. I thank God this day for my sweet wife. She is so caring. She lifts me up when I am down. The Lord’s love has made this marriage all the more sweet. He has taught me that true love is founded in His principles. He has surely done a marvelous work in my life through my wife and kids. What a blessing they are to my life. I love You God.

Genesis 24:2-7,14-20,22
2 So Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house, who ruled over all that he had, “Please, put your hand under my thigh,
3 and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;
4 but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”
5 And the servant said to him, “Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me to this land. Must I take your son back to the land from which you came?”
6 But Abraham said to him, “Beware that you do not take my son back there.
7 The Lord God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and from the land of my family, and who spoke to me and swore to me, saying, ‘To your descendants I give this land,’ He will send His angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.
14 Now let it be that the young woman to whom I say, ‘Please let down your pitcher that I may drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink’—let her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. And by this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master.”
15 And it happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder.
16 Now the young woman was very beautiful to behold, a virgin; no man had known her. And she went down to the well, filled her pitcher, and came up.
17 And the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please let me drink a little water from your pitcher.”
18 So she said, “Drink, my lord.” Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand, and gave him a drink.
19 And when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.”
20 Then she quickly emptied her pitcher into the trough, ran back to the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.
22 So it was, when the camels had finished drinking, that the man took a golden nose ring weighing half a shekel, and two bracelets for her wrists weighing ten shekels of gold,
