Chapter 7 (BOMC)

The Book of Mormon showcases a different Jesus by way of his teachings.  If this is the real Jesus, He would not contradict what is said in the Biblical text.  For example, this false Christ said the following. "And whoso believeth in me, and is baptized, the same shall be saved; and they are they who shall inherit the kingdom of God. And whoso believeth not in me, and is not baptized, shall be damned." (3 Nephi 11:33,34) It is also written, "and verily I say unto you, that ye are they of whom I said: Other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. And they understood me not, for they supposed it had been the Gentiles; for they understood not that the Gentiles should be converted through their preaching. And they understood me not that I said they shall hear my voice; and they understood me not that the Gentiles should not at any time hear my voice—that I should not manifest myself unto them save it were by the Holy Ghost. But behold, ye have both heard my voice, and seen me; and ye are my sheep, and ye are numbered among those whom the Father hath given me." (3 Nephi 15:21-24)

Looking at the verses in 3 Nephi, chapter 11, the false Jesus is leaving out what He said to the people in Israel.  How believing not in Him damns somebody, not being baptized, as the Jesus of the Book of Mormon taught.  It is written, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:16) Paul would also not go against Jesus when he said this about being saved by faith alone.  It is written, "for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8,9) The true Jesus also said this about his sheep.  It is written, "and other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” (John 10:16)  To bad the false Jesus said what he said before knowing what Paul said here.  It is written, "for I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.” (Romans 11:25) Therefore, the Gentiles are the lost sheep, and the Book of Mormon Jesus is false.

It is official, an LDS prophet admitted to worshiping a different Jesus than that in Christianity. This is huge and should cause many Mormons to re-evaluate their faith, even resigning from Mormonism once and for all. It was in 1998, that their beloved prophet said the following. “In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints ‘do not believe in the traditional Christ.’ ‘No, I don’t. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times. He together with His Father, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages.’” (LDS Church News Week ending June 20, 1998, p. 7) As we read, it now seems obvious that in Mormonism they believe in a different Jesus. But it gets worse from here.

It is written, “the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints proclaims that Jesus Christ is the Son of God in the most literal sense. The body in which He performed His mission in the flesh was sired by that same Holy Being we worship as God, our Eternal Father. Jesus was not the son of Joseph, nor was He begotten by the Holy Ghost (The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, p. 7. See also the Church News, December 18, 2004, p. 16) Because of this teaching, Mormons believe the Father has a body of flesh and bones like Jesus.  But wouldn't this mean that He would have been physically with Mary before she conceived? If so, then physical intercourse with the Father appears to be the case, which is sick and wrong. What else would “overshadow” mean if the Father had a body and not a Spirit.  We will look at this verses next.  Thankfully, this is not the case, as the Trinity was on full display during her conception. We have the Father’s Spirit, as well as the Holy Spirit, coming upon Mary, which allowed her to conceive Jesus.

There is only one way that Jesus could have been born. Mary had the presence of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, or something physical happening to her and the Father. As the Father is Spirit, we see the Trinity being the winning factor. Jesus's Spirit came inside of Mary's womb, and He began to have flesh. It was the Father who formed the son into a baby. It is written, “and the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35) Therefore, the Jesus we learn of in Mormonism is not the same as we see in Christianity. Instead of Jesus always existing, He became God like His Father. He wasn’t Spirit with His Father’s Spirit before His birth, but was with His resurrected Father in heaven. Our Father in heaven has always been God with the Son and Holy Spirit. However, in Mormonism, He became a God like all other gods in Mormonism did before Him. This, as well as Jesus being said to be the brother of Lucifer, are damnable heresies taught by false teachers.

As mentioned, there are big problems in the way that Jesus is portrayed in Mormonism. These are just three examples, but there are more. Jesus is said to be the brother of Lucifer, instead of being His creator. His Father is said to have a body, not being a Spirit only. His atonement started in Gethsemane and ended on the cross, and not the cross alone. Paul warned us about false Christs. It is written, “for if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” (2 Corinthians 11:4) Jesus created all things, including Lucifer. It is written, "for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:16,17)

Jesus taught that the Father is Spirit. It is written, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) We know this since His Spirit dwells in the Son, like the Holy Spirit dwells in us. The Lord Jesus taught, “believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” (John 14:10) When Jesus died for our sins, this is when the atonement took place. It is written, “for if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” (Romans 5:10,11) Atonement took place with Jesus's death on the cross. The gospel message is that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the grave. It does not include Gethsemane. To say it does is wrong. Believing a different Jesus is a salvation issue. If only Mormons could see this, while humbling themselves before God.

Believing in a different Jesus is a serious matter. It is cause for alarm since Gordan B. Hinkley said he didn’t believe in the Traditional Jesus of Christianity.  Hinkley’s statement reveals the heresy centering around Jesus. It can’t be overlooked. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints claim to be Christ’s one and only true church.  Yet, Hinkley said he doesn’t believe in the Traditional Jesus of Christianity.  In other words, he doesn’t believe in the Biblical Jesus.  Such a denial of the Jesus taught in the Bible could disqualify him from eternal life.  By saying that they don’t believe in the Traditional Jesus of Christianity, they are fabricating their own form of Jesus. Unfortunately, He does not save. Anyone who says they believe in a different Jesus than in Christianity would earn the title of “False Teacher”. Knowing this should cause many people to resign from the Mormon church. Paul even said, “for if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” (2 Corinthians 11:4)

In the timeframe of the early church, there were many wolves. Those who deceived the sheep into believing in a different Jesus. So, what would the Mormon prophet be meaning by not believing in the traditional Jesus? It means that the Mormon Jesus is different. We see that in their teachings. How He is the brother of Lucifer, became a God like His Father, is a created being, his Father has a body of flesh and bones, He atoned for our sins in the garden, and did not create all things. As you can see, this Jesus is not the same Jesus of the Bible. Jesus is the creator of all thing's heaven and earth, including Lucifer. He has always existed and has always been God, like His Father. Our Father is a Spirit, and He sent His Son to die for our sins.  Jesus then became flesh and atoned for our sins on the cross. Ask any Mormon, and they will admit that what I just said about their Jesus is correct. Therefore, these people simply bear with what is false, instead of running from it. If only their hearts were humble to come to the real Jesus of the Bible things would change.  Amen.

Let us pray: 
Oh Lord, seeing a false Jesus in Mormonism compels me to proclaim the truth loudly and passionately. But help me to do this with the help of the Holy Spirit. I am only one person. So prepare an army of believers to reach those who are lost for Your cause. May people's hearts be opened to Your truth. As hard as it is to reach them, I pray that a miracle will happen.  I pray that the LDS missionaries will leave the mission fields to follow You. This has happened to people, and I am grateful that they had enough courage to do this. Even if there was much backlash and ridicule from their families when they got home, it was worth it. God, if I knew what I know now, I would have also done this and left my mission early while I was in the Mormon church. All I know is that You were preparing me for a time and space, in which You could better use me for Your kingdom. Lord, I am grateful that You kept working on my heart, even though it took a while. You are so patient with me. Thank You, Lord, for saving a wretch like me. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
