Sexual Immorality

Sexually immorality is not only killing our relationship with God but our relationship with our spouse, children, family, friends, and even co-workers. This lust in our hearts has us thinking up and even posting sexually explicit things on social media that are very offensive I’m nature. And the question poses, what is their life with Jesus look like? Does He exist at all? If so, is it simply a time while at church, but nothing more than this? This is what I fear is happening with the society I am living in. The fear of God is missing in people’s hearts. Therefore, they often say they are saved without any desire to live for Jesus. They rely on an encounter they had with Jesus or a prayer they made and now think they are good to go. It is for this reason that sexually explicit things start to slip into people’s lives. This can be through video games, TV Shows/Movies, pornography, and even strip clubs where lust is acted upon. My friends, this is a slippery slope you are on if this is your life. These people have become a friend with the world, instead of a friend with God. They are no different than unbelievers that are unsaved.

Speaking of becoming a friend of this world instead of God, this has been around for thousands of years. James wrote, “ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:3,4) Our problems come because of uncontrollable lust. So what does a person need to do to think clearly and, therefore, control their sexual fantasies? Paul taught, “mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:” (Colossians 3:5,6) As saints, he added, “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.” (Ephesians 5:3) Know that God’s wrath is upon such people, and only if they repent and get right with Him will they be saved. Otherwise, darkness will prevail. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for this lost generation. They are so deep in their lust that sexual immorality is now ramped in their lives. I have seen fornication, adultery, and pornography destroy people’s lives and the lives around them. Being on social media and only desiring to witness to people about Jesus, I am confronted with many sexually perverse posts that make my stomach churn. God, even confronting many of them, they aren’t sorry and think it to be a joke. Thankfully, there are other people that can see the issues in what they have done and apologize. None of us are perfect, but it doesn’t mean we can just do what we want in this life and not see that Your wrath won’t be upon us. I have experienced this firsthand many times in my life. Your love is with me often, but it is my fault that I’ve given over to my lust and done things that I shouldn’t have. Lord, thank You for hearing my prayers. My confessions were made and You have taken me out of darkness and into Your light. I was lost and You found me. My joy had not been discovered until You came into my life. I love You, Jesus. Thank You for saving me. Amen.
