When Life Is Hard

This life is hard. How often are we in pain and overwhelmed by the difficulties this world presents. Chronic sickness causes people to lose hope in themselves and even God. It is hard to even go through our normal daily routines for our body is so broken and any motivation has left us. We ask ourselves, where can we find rest and escape this torment? When pain is overbearing, it is like death is close at hand. It makes us fearful at the moment, and so we tremble not knowing what will happen next. It can be horrifying to think that we may soon leave this life and those we love. This is how David was thinking when he was running for his life because of Saul. He said, “my heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.” (Psalm 55:4-6)

When we are young, it seems like we can do anything and life will never end. We are young and free up until life catches up on us. In the beginning, we want to experience life to its fullest until we are pained by its elements. This leads us to wander from doctor to doctor to find relief. It leaves us running from something that we cannot escape. But there is a prescription we can take that will give us true healing and rest. His name is Jesus. When we give our cares to the Lord and pray for peace, God comes into our life and saves us. There is hope for tomorrow. If we die, we will be forever with the Lord and no more suffer because of pain or sorrow. He will wipe away every tear. David wrote, “Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah. I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.” (Psalm 55:7,8) “As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.” (Psalm 55:16) Come unto Jesus! Amen.

Let us pray:
Lord, be with those when times are difficult. Many of us have a chronic illness and it causes us to have much pain and difficulty throughout the day. I truly wish that healing could come to me and others who need it most. I just know that death comes to us all. Some people don’t have to go through this pain and die while sleeping or instantly in wrecks. Chronic nose and throat issues, like I experience, are terrible. It feels like I have a cold each day, and it is hard to find relief. Lord, chronic back problems cause so many people to fall into depression. Because of my problem, arthritis, diabetes, cancer, and more, we need Your peace to sustain us through these hard times. God, I have seen many people that I know and love die because of cancer. It takes people so fast and leads to many unanswered questions. At funerals, peace is what we all need. We need Your presence and comfort. Be with those who have passed on also, Jesus. I love You, Lord. Amen.
