There is much more evidence that Joseph Smith instituted polygamy in Mormonism and that he himself was also a polygamist with many wives. A message from the official LDS website called, “Plural Marriage In Kirtland And Nauvoo“, reads, “Joseph told associates that an angel appeared to him three times between 1834 and 1842 and commanded him to proceed with plural marriage when he hesitated to move forward. During the third and final appearance, the angel came with a drawn sword, threatening Joseph with destruction unless he went forward and obeyed the commandment fully.” (Plural Marriage In Kirtland And Nauvoo) “Evidence indicates that Joseph Smith participated in both types of sealings. The exact number of women to whom he was sealed in his lifetime is unknown because the evidence is fragmentary.” (Plural Marriage In Kirtland And Nauvoo) “Most of those sealed to Joseph Smith were between 20 and 40 years of age at the time of their sealing to him. The oldest, Fanny Young, was 56 years old. The youngest was Helen Mar Kimball, daughter of Joseph’s close friends Heber C. and Vilate Murray Kimball, who was sealed to Joseph several months before her 15th birthday.” (Plural Marriage In Kirtland And Nauvoo) It is interesting how this evidence of Joseph Smith’s crime of polygamy is now available on the Mormon’s own website.
Joseph’s encounter with an angel was an angel of light from Satan and he fell for it. Joseph Smith’s life of polygamy goes against his own written Book of Mormon. This practice of polygamy was outlawed by God, where God called it an abomination and to only have one wife. These verses read, “behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord. Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, I have led this people forth out of the land of Jerusalem, by the power of mine arm, that I might raise up unto me a righteous branch from the fruit of the loins of Joseph. Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old.” (Jacob 2:24-26) “Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none; For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.” (Jacob 2:27,28) Speaking of the overseer in God’s church, they are to only have one wife. “A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach.” (1 Timothy 3:2) The Bible is clear that God is not for polygamy. What Joseph did was not of God, but an act of Satan. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, may every Mormon who is in doubt of their current beliefs come to know what is true from You, and You alone. Give them over to wisdom through the Bible, prayers, and true Christians, so that they may not be given over to the wisdom of men. I love these people so much. Many of my family members are in it, so sharing the truth with them is the least I can do. God, It would be so amazing to see them in heaven too that are currently Mormon. I truly care for them and I don’t wish for them to be punished after they die. Knowing the truth of the Mormon church and that I may not see people I love in heaven is very saddening. There is much grief and sadness for the people I love. This breaks my heart. So please make a way for me to reach every one of my siblings, parents, aunts, and others for Your cause. I feel an urgency in my heart to do so. Nobody can cheat death and I pray that every one of my loved ones and friends will at least have the opportunity to be saved before their life is over. I have been to many funerals without any firm knowledge that these people who I love are in paradise now. I want this to be, Lord, but know that You are just and people go where they need to. Therefore, put a fire in my soul, in that every person I reach out to will see You in me. I love You, Jesus. There is salvation only through You and not a church. You are enough, Lord. Amen.
