We’ve all had people that we have had crushes on, and or people who have had crushes on us. The sad thing is, when a person is only seeking to be with us because of lust, this so often turns into the person wanting to have sex. This sinful action outside of marriage is called fornication. If we are ever in these circumstances, then we need to tell the person where stand with God. That sinning against Him willfully like this is out of the question. Joseph did this when he was being hit on by Potiphar’s wife. It is written, “and it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:7-9) This is one of my favorite verses when Joseph said, “how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9)
Here is the thing, if you love God then you also hate sin. However, if you love the flesh instead, then you won’t care if you sin. Doing this, you may say, “nobody will notice anyway. I can always repent later after the deed is done.” This tells me that you have not been reborn in the Spirit. It is sad that people have chosen to live a sinful life instead of following Jesus and doing what He says. As for Joseph, he loved the Lord and you could see this by what he said and his actions. See what happened here and judge for yourself. “And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within. And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.” (Genesis 39:10-12) This is exactly what we all need to do when sin is at the door. We run from it at all costs. Then, it cannot take hold of our lives. Isn’t it worth living for Jesus and going to heaven? Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, You are worth more than what the flesh desires from this wicked world. I know deep down where my pitfalls are, but with You in my life I am strong to resist temptation. The devil can easily cause me to fall if I am alone because my flesh is weak. But he is no match to Your mighty power in me. I love it when I see the temptation coming and instead I begin to pray and the temptation is over. It feels so good to know that I was able to beat the temptation with You on my side. I can never do this on my own, but because You have an immense power in my life I can do all things. Surely, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. You are the one that has changed me and also given me a new heart and mind. For most of my life, I thought I was going down the right path and that it was for my good, but I was so wrong. I was only going down a dead-end because You were not the head of it. Thankfully, You have come and placed me on a path that leads to heaven. There is holiness, righteousness, purity, modesty, kindness joy, peace, love, and all things good with You in my life. All I want in life now is less of me and more of You. I love You, Lord. You are my God and I worship You this day and forever. Amen.
