Is The Book Of Enoch Scripture?

The question I will be posing today is if the Book of Enoch should be included in the canon of scripture we have today in the Bible? And if so, did Jesus say anything about us adding it to our scriptures also? We will soon find out as we open up God’s Word and start to read from Matthew 22, verse 29, which reads, “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.” (Matthew 22:29,30) This we know from the chapter that the Sadducees were asking Jesus which husband the woman would be with in the resurrection, since she had seven. And Jesus’s answer is startling, especially since he mentioned a passage of scripture that is not in our current canon, but he said is scripture nonetheless. He mentions how people that die are not married in heaven, for we are like the angels who are also not given into marriage. And the interesting thing is that Jesus said that they do error because they do not know the scriptures enough to know this for a truth. Now, if you search the Old Testament, you will not find any reference to this reference of angels not marrying. This is because these verses only come from a single book called the “Book of Enoch”, not any other book in our current canon. I will quote those very verses from that book in a moment, so you can judge for yourself to see if what I am bringing to the table is true or not.

In 1st Enoch, chapter 15, it reads, “Fear not, Enoch, thou righteous man and scribe of righteousness: approach hither and hear my voice. And go, say to the Watchers of heaven, who have sent thee to intercede for them: “You should intercede” for men, and not men for you: Wherefore have ye left the high, holy, and eternal heaven, and lain with women, and defiled yourselves with the daughters of men and taken to yourselves wives, and done like the children of earth, and begotten giants (as your) sons? And though ye were holy, spiritual, living the eternal life, you have defiled yourselves with the blood of women, and have begotten (children) with the blood of flesh, and, as the children of men, have lusted after flesh and blood as those also do who die and perish. Therefore have I given them wives also that they might impregnate them, and beget children by them, that thus nothing might be wanting to them on earth. But you were formerly spiritual, living the eternal life, and immortal for all generations of the world. And therefore I have not appointed wives for you; for as for the spiritual ones of the heaven, in heaven is their dwelling.(1 Enoch 15:1-7) In bold, you will see that angels do not marry in heaven, for God has not appointed wives for them. This is the reference that Jesus is marking the Sadducees. And if Jesus said 1 Enoch was scripture, then I do too. Now, read it for yourself as I have and you will see how the book lines up with the Bible we have today. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will be more open to Your truth. Sometimes it is so close to the touch, but we are so far from it spiritually because of our closed minds. Many people have also relied on people’s opinions instead of searching the scriptures for themselves, in order to know what is true or not. What information and knowledge people have gained from their pastors, bishops, prophets, or other people have become most important to them and also their truth. And the sad thing is, people that are like this are very hard to witness to. They already have the truth and are good with that. No matter if they are missing out on knowing the whole truth, so many people are so far from You, that they are unwilling to learn. But the question is, God, why won’t these people search the scriptures for truth? Are they abiding in You, or other things that fulfill their lives instead? I wish that people would put their trust in You and Your Words more so than anything else. We can be guided in this lost world, but we must break free from the doctrines of men first. Then, and only then, can we learn from Your mighty hand. We need Your wisdom, God, and not what people may say. Opinions are just that, opinions, and what I need is substance. You bring life into all things that I know now and will know. Even reading the Book of Enoch has been very enlightening, which I believe has come from Your hand. It is my prayer that people do not miss out on this book of scripture. I love You. I trust in You. Amen.
