As we continue our study in 1 Kings 7, we notice something very interesting that was built outside of the house of the Lord. It was a place where the priests would wash themselves after doing their animal sacrifices. However, people have altered the importance of it in a very bad way. Because people pick apart the Bible, certain verses are used for their man-made doctrines. One of these false teachings is “Baptisms For The Dead”, which is use in the Mormonism cult today. Unfortunately, they have read this chapter and forgot to also read in 2 Chronicles 4, so that they could better understand the real reason they had a Molten Sea with oxen round about. In 1 Kings 7 it reads, 1“and he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about. And under the brim of it round about there were knops compassing it, ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about: the knops were cast in two rows, when it was cast. It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward. And it was an hand breadth thick, and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies: it contained two thousand baths.” (1 Kings 7:23-26) Wow, this really resembles what is in the Mormon temples, of which they use for “Baptisms For The Death”. And because there is no explanation for this in this chapter, they ran with this picture in their minds and made this false doctrine out of it.
This leads us to make sense of what this Molten Sea was really about by reading in 2 Chronicles 4. It reads, 2“also he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits the height thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about. And under it was the similitude of oxen, which did compass it round about: ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about. Two rows of oxen were cast, when it was cast. It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward. And the thickness of it was an handbreadth, and the brim of it like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies; and it received and held three thousand baths. He made also ten lavers, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them: such things as they offered for the burnt offering they washed in them; but the sea was for the priests to wash in.” (2 Chronicles 4:2-6) Wow! Isn’t it amazing what happens when we continue reading the Bible, chapter by chapter? It sure is. Now we know for sure why these were built, and it was for priests to wash in. You see, they would get really dirty after doing all of their animal sacrifices to God. So they would bath in this Molten Sea afterword, in order to be made clean. Knowing this, we now know that “Baptisms For The Dead” is a man-made doctrine and created by taking the Bible out of context. The Mormons have taken something that is sacred of God and made it filthy. Please think about this. We should never tamper with God’s Word.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people’s hearts will be turned to You and not the teachings of men. Surely, false doctrines can seem so good on the outside, but when inspected by a devout Christian, is is very corrupt instead. Anything that distorts God’s Word is deceiving others and leading them away from You. Even the Mormon Church has taken what You have said was important for the Your House and desecrated it. They have taken a holy practice and made it an evil practice out of it. Even the practice of “Baptisms For The Dead” has been taken out of context, which was meant for the “Moten Sea” in scripture. Instead of it being where priests bathed, it became something entirely different now. And so we have Mormon Temples popping up all around the world, where the focus is to baptize people in proxy for those that have died. Lord, do they not know that after this life comes the judgment? These second chances that Mormons are trying to make for themselves and others are never going to happen. Our time is now to know You, Jesus. We cannot rely on anything else after we die. Nowhere in the Bible does it teach this, and I worry that because of this abominable teaching, millions of Mormons are now on the road to hell. This really saddens me, God, to know that my dad, my grandma, and others have died in this cult. And because they didn’t want to hear the truth of God, their path is destruction and the lake of fire. Lord, I wish this wasn’t the case and I know that You are a righteous judge, but I also know that You are just in all your dealings. I hope to warn my Mormon family members of the wrath to come, but they will not hear me. Oh, how this brakes my heart. I wish to see all my family members be with me in heaven, while we abound in Your presence forever, but it is up to them to leave what is false behind. Surely, it is better to leave what is false and cleave to what is right in Your sight. May they come to know You, Jesus, personally. Even in all their humility, I pray that some will come around to hearing the truth before their dying breath. I love You. Amen.
