The world may try to blend their ways in with people of the faith, but that will never work for those that are all in for Christ. And for those with spiritual eyes, it is easy to distinguish between people that say they are Christian and those who are not? How can this be? It is because men and women that are Christian are modest and don’t blend in with the wicked. This is because purity actually means something to them and isn’t something they play around with, for doing so would be playing with fire. It is because allowing themselves to spend time with friends that are bad influences, also tarnishes their image for Christ. Of which also is a dagger to their relationship with the Lord, our God. Therefore, we must remember that though we are in the world, we are no longer of it, but followers of Christ. But is this a teaching from the Bible? Of course it is, my friends. If you are reading the Bible, then you would know that it teaches holiness, purity and modesty to be characteristics of every Christians. Now concerning modesty, Paul said, 1“in like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.” (1 Timothy 2:9,10) Therefore, modesty is often spoken for women, for they often lure men into having impure thoughts because of their immodest apparel. And because of this, men often go down the dark path of pornography and its addiction, which raddles their life and their relationship with God in a bad way. We cannot have the Holy Spirit in our life if there is wickedness in our lives.
When it comes to fornication and adultery, men and women are both at fault here. It is true that women who wear skimpy outfits are in the wrong and defile their temples, which is of the living God. However, men who have not allowed God to build them up in His armor are also walking in willful sin. It is for this reason that they stumble and fall. Now, people could stop here and think that evil women are the only ones at fault. However, this is incorrect. Impure thoughts do come to those that are not seeking God also. Now, men of faith don’t have to worry about such women, for the Word of God and prayer carries them through the dangers of this life. For this reason, men ought to also listen to what Paul said here. 2“These things command and teach. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.” (1 Timothy 4:11-13 ) Maybe if more men did this, then more women would also stop dressing the way they do. Truly, if purity is important to men and they treated women better, then many women would stop trying to impress them through the way they dress, but be natural in their appearance. However, women need to make a conscience effort also to be modest before God. Men and women both are important in God’s kingdom, but only when they are willing to walk in His holiness can they be fruitful for Him, and no longer be a hindrance for people in the faith. Please think about this the next time you dress yourself up for the day or for a special occasion, but allow God to adorn you in His modest apparel.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we may always delight in things above, even more so than what the world offers. Help us to remain spotless from the effects of the enemy, that we may walk in holiness, as You are holy. So fill us this day with the Holy Spirit, and remain with us as to be our hands and our feet. Though we walk in darkness, You will be our light and our guide. Thank You for caring for our needs, God. You are so good to us. Truly, your love and mercy is what has saved me from a life of bondage and guilt. Though I was once wrapped up in the things of this world and sexual addiction almost ruined me, Your hands pulled me out of the mess I was in. Now I am standing on my two feet, while my eyes are opened to know You now. Thank You Jesus for saving a wretch like me. Surely, I didn’t deserve Your forgiveness, especially since I had strayed so far from You, but You still took me in with open arms. What a great and glorious God You are. Thank You Father for showing such compassion for me and my life. Only You could see the potential I still had within me. It is You, God, that gives me clean hands and a pure heart. Because there is armor in my life, my eyes no longer wander and look with lust on women. Thank you Lord. It is my prayer also that women would also clothe themselves modestly, as Your holy Word teaches. May they dress themselves in a way that men would no longer be tempted to stare and then look at pornography or have sexual relations outside of marriage. You are our shield and our protector, and all things are done in Your mighty Name. I love You Lord. I believe in You for salvation. All the praise and glory to You, God. Amen.
