In Isaiah, chapter 14, we learn about why Lucifer, or what you may know as Satan, was thrust out of heaven. And what is amazing about this chapter is that it also debunks three strange beliefs in Mormonism. Those three beliefs are the following… #1 Jesus and Lucifer are brothers. #2 While in heaven, Lucifer only wanted to present his plan of salvation to the Father. As Jesus did the same and was selected to be our Savior, but Satan was rejected. #3 Mormons can be elevated to become Gods. Now to understand how these Mormon doctrines are wrong, we will compare and contrast these teachings with five different books of scripture from the Bible, namely, Isaiah 14 & 44, Genesis 3, Colossians 1, and Revelation 12. Now to their first belief, we must search the Bible to see who is the creator? Well, the Bible is clear that Jesus created all thing. So what does that make of Lucifer? Is he Jesus’s brother or a created being? Well, we learn from scripture that Jesus created Lucifer also. Therefore, Jesus, being his creator, was not his brother. On to their second belief about Lucifer’s plan in heaven. It is quite clear that his only intention was to exalt himself above God and the angels. He wanted to become a God himself. So that blows away the notion that he only wanted to present a plan for humankind and was rejected. Now, on to the last belief. Is God okay with people wanting to become Gods themselves? Of course not. To think this way, will cause them to be cast into hell like Satan will be, come judgement day.
Though we covered the points that Jesus is ours and Lucifer’s creator, Lucifer fell because he wanted to become a God, we will now go into detail with what the Word of God says. The Bible is the source of truth. Through God’s words, I will give unto you evidence of what I said above is true. Colossians chapter 1, verses 12 through 17, says the Father gave His Son Jesus the power to create all things. It reads, 4“giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” These verses cannot be more clear about Jesus being our Creator. Now to understand that Lucifer was also created, we will read from Genesis chapter 3, verse 1. It reads, 1“now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.” As you can see here, Jesus and Lucifer are not brothers. Jesus is His creator, who also has the power to thrust Satan into the pit of hell.
We will now learn what Lucifer’s real plan was, while he was an angel in heaven. Isaiah, chapter 14, verses 12 through 19 reads, 2“how art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.” As you can see here, his only desire was to elevate himself to become a God. There was no plan that he presented for salvation, as nowhere in scripture does it say this. However, it does say that because of his pride, he attempted to overthrow God. This is when a big war started in heaven and a third of the angels, who were on Satan’s side, were defeated and cast down to the earth. Revelation, chapter 12, verses 7 through 9 reads, 5“and there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” To be exact, verse 4 says that a 5“third part of the stars of heaven” fell that day and became Satan’s demons.
So let’s see if we can piece this all together for everyone to understand. Again Mormons state that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers but the Bible is clear that Jesus is His and our creator. Mormons also say that Lucifer only tried to present a plan of salvation and because of this, he was rejected and a war started. This is untrue as the Bible is clear that it was because Satan wanted to elevate himself to Godhood, that the war took place. This goes against what the Mormons believe in when it comes to them becoming God’s themselves. This is so interesting as this was the devil’s desire also. So they better watch out lest they also be cast down to hell because of such a blasphemous belief. Now, who do you think gives people the thoughts of becoming Gods? Well, Satan of course. As he wanted to become a God, he also told Eve that she could also become a God, if she would just eat of the fruit of the tree in the midst of the garden. Genesis, chapter 3, verses 4 through 6 reads, 1“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” So as God’s Word reads, Satan tricked Eve to think that she could become a God as well.
Now, what was God’s reaction to Adam and Eve, after eating of the fruit? They were tricked by Satan in becoming a God but there were also consequences for their actions. You would think that they would be okay if becoming a God was a reality. However, you will soon understand how wrong this idea is, as God’s judgements were upon them. In Genesis, chapter 3, verses 16 and 17, we now understand how God dealt with them. It reads, 1“Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.” So to think that you can become a God will also have God’s judgements upon you. Therefore, all Mormons are in a lot of trouble, by thinking this for themselves after they die. Now to put this notion to rest, God said the following in Isaiah, chapter 44, verse 8. It reads, 3“Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.” Therefore, if you are a Mormon, come out of it today. Your beliefs are contrary to God and if you do not repent, leave that church behind and come to Jesus, hell is your destination in death.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that every person that declares to believe in You will truly desire to learn from You also. May Your words, from the Bible, become their source of truth, outside of anyone else’s opinion about doctrine. So many people have started up churches based on beliefs that Your Word is against. However, since these teachings appear to be good on the outside, and their modern revelation tells them so, then people believe it to be true. Yes, it is this type of trickery that people use today to deceive even the elect. These religious men say that they are men of faith when truly they undercut the value of the Bible and elevate their own words instead. The same can be said for Mormons, who believe in the words of their prophets more so than Your Words in the Bible. These people do not believe that You, Jesus, is their creator because they trust in men over Your Words. They also believe, like Lucifer did, that they can become Gods, even though this desire is enough to be cast a person into hell. My soul is saddened by all of this. Surely, their prophets are leading these people down a dark road to destruction. I pray Lord that you will convict them of these false teachings, that they may repent, leave their church behind and come unto You fully. You are our God and King and Your Words are supreme. Anything above what You say is blasphemy. I trust in You above all things. For this, my path is secure in You, my Lord. Thank You, Jesus. I love You. Amen.
