Is Jesus calling you out because you aren’t reading the Bible? Do you error in His sight because you don’t understand His ways? We can only know the true will of God by reading the Bible. Many times Jesus would ask people why they didn’t read the scriptures. His words would help them grow in the faith if they just read them. On one occasion, 2“Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?” This was pertaining to a parable of the husbandmen of the vineyard. If they would have read what the Bible said they would have known that the person they rejected was the Son of God. He also said unto the Sadducee’s, 3“Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” This was pertaining to marriage in heaven but if they had read the scriptures they would have known that we are not given in marriage in heaven but are as the angels. Jesus could see that people’s beliefs were way off course and it was all because they weren’t studying His words. This is the same thing that has happened for generations, up to this day. People have come up with so many different man made doctrines and this is all because they don’t understand the Bible. God speaks through every word but if we are not for Him then they will not penetrate our hearts. It is so easy in the world to feel lost and not know the way. Our flesh is weak and if nothing is helping us tame it then it will easily get out of control fast. Because we aren’t guided we will more easily sin and break God’s commandments. Living in this fashion will only lead us to destruction. If you are not being led by God then change your life and repent. Start reading the Bible daily. Understand what God’s commands are and live by them. Jesus says, 4“Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” Therefore, if you desire to be saved then live for the Lord and do as He says.
God’s words are vital to our salvation in God’s Kingdom. They give us the daily nourishment and spiritual growth we need. Reading the Bible will change the way we act, think and feel inside. Understanding God’s words is a life change if you let them prick your heart and act on it. Your whole belief system will changed and be conformed to God, if you allow Him to take control. Any errors in your thinking will be made right. Any laws you have broken will be forgiven as you repent and trust in God. He will take those evil thoughts and turn them into love. If you take heed to His counsel then you will become wise. Walk in the ways of the Lord and You will understand God’s will for your life. You will no longer stumble through life but be guided throughout your journey. This life change isn’t a difficult thing, especially when we start delighting in God’s laws. In so doing, you will be made strong with God as your shield. Just like David desired, you will ask the Lord to teach you His statutes that you may 1“keep it to the end”. As I read God’s word, the Spirit is speaking through me. He is showing me the way. I cannot get enough of what God wants to teach me. As David said, 1“How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth!”, this is how I feel. I love every minute that I have to spend with the Lord in Bible study. His words delight my soul and fill me up with gladness.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, 1“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” I cannot get enough of your wisdom and knowledge. Each day that I read your Holy Bible my heart is turned to follow You. I am made stronger by every word. Though my flesh is weak, You are what makes me stronger through reading Your words. I am less likely to fall under temptation for You are my rock and my fortress. When all kinds of winds of doctrine come my way I can know for certain what is truth based on my daily readings in the Bible. Learning from You is a delight. I love to honor You. I love You.
Let us read the Bible:
