“I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments. Look thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those that love thy name. Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” (Psalm 119:131-133)
Are you eager to come to God? A person that longs to obey Him, while keeping His commandments. I am talking about a person that is ready and willing to put aside fleshly lusts and to live for Him instead. These people are made glad, for He is merciful and just to those who will live for Him. God longs for us to come to Him. There is true forgiveness, no matter what we have done. His grace is extended towards us, although we don’t always deserve it. We may be living in sin that is so serious that we could be put in jail, prison, lose our wife and kids in divorce, lose our job, and even lead to death. This is when we should call upon the name of Jesus for forgiveness and mercy. People may not want to forgive us, but God will. And the amazing thing is, as you forgive others, many people will also forgive you. Forgiving one another is what God expects of us.
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
We may currently be a porn watcher, a homosexual, a fornicator, an adulterer, a drunkard, a thief, a murderer, a liar, and more. However, as we repent, these sins are forgiven also. This means telling God that we are sorry for aborting a child, having sexual relations with the same sex, and more. God’s mercy is extended towards us when we turn from those sins and to Him for mercy and forgiveness. It is the enemy that wants to trick us into believing that we are not good enough. This can cause us to be very depressed and go far deeper into sin. But don’t let the enemy win you over, for God’s armor can help you win the battle. The good news is that the Lord is one prayer away from being forgiven and washed clean through His blood. If you are still willfully sinning, then stop. Do this for Jesus. He is God and His mercy is at the door. Open up to Him today. Amen.
This message makes my heart sing. Oh what a gracious and glorious God we serve. No matter what we’ve done, all he asks is for us to come in humility and to ask for forgiveness. He offers eternal life to those who simply trust in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He doesn’t expect us to clean up our act first. He will take care of that through the workings of the Holy Spirit. Just come to Him as you are and let Him change you.
