God’s Testimonies Are Our Heritage

“Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart. I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end. I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.” (Psalm 119:111-113)

When God is with us, He continues to pour out His Spirit upon us. This is when we gain wisdom from on high. No longer are we reliant on what we achieve in this life, but know that we will come out victorious with Jesus at the head. Our heritage in life are the possessions that only God gives us. Our inheritance will be seen in person in the next life, but experienced spiritually in this life. Therefore, to live for Jesus and to deny fleshly lusts is what I am after. I have seen how far gone I have become when I go after things that are evil. I not only feel bad about what I’ve done but know that I have desecrated the temple of the living God, which is in me. Therefore, if I see inappropriate material, like porn, I despise it. It is not worth the consequences come death. If I see bars and people getting drunk, I can see the destruction that is also on their path leading to death. Therefore, to warn them of the wrath to come and to lead them into a real relationship with Jesus is the least I could do.

I rejoice that Jesus has come into my life. I was so lost until I came to Him. And the best part about everything is that the Lord’s mercy endures forever. We can falter and go deep into sin, but when we confess our sins and repent, God’s arms are wide open to receive us. This was me for many years of my life, until God saved me. Now, I cannot help but rejoice in Jesus, my Savior. If I do anything that is good, God does it all through me. My own works are as filthy rags in God’s sight. It is a great joy to be a worker for God’s kingdom not just now, but for the remainder of my life. If I am alive when Jesus returns, then Amen and Praise God. I cannot wait for that day. It is the Lord God that I love and hate the ways of this world. Our thoughts get us into trouble all the time, but with Him in my life, clean thoughts take over, and I am able to fight against the devil. Truly, God’s laws and statutes are upon my heart. These are God’s callings and commands for my life, of whom I love and cherish. Amen.
