The story of how Cain was cursed is contained in Genesis, chapter 4, from the Bible. We learn about Cain killing his brother Abel, and therefore, God’s wrath fell upon him insomuch that a mark was placed upon him. Because Cain slew his brother, there needed to be something placed upon him so that people see him and also know that he was different, being cursed by God, lest they kill him and be cursed also. People have tried to understand what this mark really means over the years, and the same can be said in Mormonism. However, they have gone so far as to say this mark is black skin, which makes the God in Mormonism a racist God. Since the beginning of the formation of Mormonism, their false prophets have attempted to help people understand why blacks are cursed because of Cain. In saying this, they have an extra-Biblical book called Moses that speaks of the children of Cain, which were black skinned. It reads, “there was a blackness came upon all the children of Canaan, that they were despised among all people.” (Moses 7:8) Where the story of Cain being marked by God is found below…
“And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper? And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground. And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand; When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear. Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.” (Genesis 4:8-15)
Let this be known to everyone who reads this message. The curse of Cain, being black skin, is a Mormon doctrine only and not taught in Christianity, nor being taught in the Bible. Only this cult teaches that the darkness upon African Americans equals a curse from God, which came from Cain killing Abel. Brigham Young taught, “Cain slew his brother . . . and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. . . . How long is that race to endure the dreadful curse that is upon them? That curse will remain upon them, and they never can hold the Priesthood or share in it until all the other descendants of Adam have received the promises and enjoyed the blessings of the Priesthood and the keys thereof. Until the last ones of the residue of Adam’s children are brought up to that favourable position, the children of Cain cannot receive the first ordinances of the Priesthood. They were the first that were cursed, and they will be the last from whom the curse will be removed.” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, pp. 290-291; photo below p. 27, Brigham Young) This is where this false teaching stems from.
Mormons have been very racist since that time, having said some very hurtful things in regard to black people. It was the first presidency that said, “from the days of the Prophet Joseph Smith even until now, it has been the doctrine of the Church, never questioned by Church leaders, that the Negroes are not entitled to the full blessings of the Gospel.“ (Statement of The First Presidency on the Negro Question, July 17 1947, quoted in Mormonism and the Negro, pp.46-7) So blacks were excluded from the full blessings of the gospel. Bruce R McConkie also said, “negroes in this life are denied the priesthood. Under no circumstance can they hold this delegation of authority from the Almighty. The gospel message of salvation is not carried affirmatively to them. Negroes are not equal with other races.“ (Mormon Doctrine, 1966 Edition, Bruce R McConkie) Wow! Their false prophets went so far as to say they are unsaved, for the message of salvation was not for them. How ludicrous and racist is this? It is crazy how anybody with black skin would even consider being part of a racist cult like this. Amen.
