One thing that is missing in our society is the fear of God, and for this reason, evil is prevailing upon the earth. This truly needs to change, for this life is so short, and a real judgment is coming. This was a thing in David’s time also. He said, “tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob; Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.” (Psalm 114:7,8) Because people do not tremble before God but live their own lives, they put themselves on a path of destruction. Their attitude is that they are not doing anything wrong, as they brush their sins under the rug. This is done on a daily basis, while people know about Jesus and the need to come to Him, but they put this off too. For this reason, hell is filling up. I so wish this was not the case, but people are preparing a place for themselves in hell instead of heaven. Of course, Jesus is the way to salvation, but unless you come to Him with your whole heart, He cannot save you. Just as the prodigal son knew about the Father, but still left Him, people are doing this to our Father in heaven also. Thankfully, the son came back to His Father and all was forgiven.
So what does this all mean? It means that God’s hand of mercy is extended to you also. All He asks is that you come back to Him if He was once in your life before. If not, then come to Him now with a broken and contrite heart, ready to do His will, and no longer leaning to the lusts of the flesh for things in life. I will tell you this. The most fulfilling life you will ever have is the one that You are hearing God’s voice and doing as He says. This is when He is able to use you for His kingdom. Not only this, but the encounters you will have while in his harvest will be the best things that will ever happen to you. You will learn to do things that you thought were impossible. Through God’s hand, miracles will take place by way of the power of the Holy Spirit. This life in Christ is fulfilling and will lead you straightway to Jesus in heaven. You will have no fear come death, for you will hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matthew 25:23) How amazing it will be to one day be with our Lord and God in heaven. There will be joy beyond our comprehension. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that the fear of God will enter people’s hearts. I am not just talking about people who say they know you but don’t, but people who have never known You also. Heaven and hell are real and I want people to understand that You want everyone to be saved. However, people need to make a choice to commit their lives to You first. Just as You called people to follow You, Jesus, I know that You are calling everyone who is alive to follow You now. There is a life of mercy and forgiveness for those that do, for You have shown such mercy and forgiveness to me. I was lost until I found You. Just like the wicked people in this world, I was a part of them too until You rescued me. Day after day did I hide my sins as if they never happened. I would justify them and continue my life as if nothing was wrong. Thankfully, the fear of God entered my heart and a 180-degree turn occurred. Lord, my marriage was on the rocks, but because I confessed my sins and put my trust in You, this is now a thing of the past. God, thank You for saving a wretch like me. I hate even the appearance of evil now and delight when You lead me to righteousness. I am Yours, God, your humble servant. I love You. Amen.
I’m reading Voices from the Edge of Eternity compiled by John Myers. It’s about the last words of the dying. D.L.Moody and a number of other well known pastors and evangelists are listed. Each of them pre-experienced heaven in some way-mostly by being given a glimpse of it before taking their last breath. Conversely, those who put off accepting Christ after years of hearing the gospel, experienced glimpses of hell. Even though some of them cried out to God, they knew it was too late for them. If the Holy Spirit is speaking to you about getting right with God-accepting Christ as Savior and Lord, do not put it off.
