“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” (2 Corinthians 11:3,4)
This was an amazing day in God’s harvest. Like planned, Patrick and I went to the Conference Center with our sign. Upon arriving, there were many people to talk to. One man, who is Mormon, talked to us for some time, and we even prayed with him. He was once Pentecostal, and we questioned him joining this cult. We asked him why he didn’t compare their teachings with Christianity before joining the LDS church those 5 years ago. He couldn’t see how a church built on family could be false. However, we explained to him the reasons why the temple is not necessary, for we are the temple of the living God. At the end of the conversation, his heart was open to receive God’s truth and He received prayer. At this time, I talked with a friend of mine named, Ethan, about salvation. He had a hard time understanding what it takes to be saved. Faith alone in Jesus versus works-based salvation. He asked about people being predestined to go to hell, which I explained we don’t believe. How, God gives everyone a chance to be saved. We talked to many other people, which were also open to the truth, but thousands of others walked right past us. Many people didn’t like the fact that we and other Christians were there.
Today I had lunch with Ethan, Zachary, Jack, and Brigham. We had an amazing discussion about priesthood, and many other topics. Regarding priesthood, I helped them understand that authority in the New Testament doesn’t refer to priesthood but the power of the Holy Spirit. This is indicated in Acts, chapters 1 and 2. I also discussed the son of Zedekiah issues. Where in their book, Helaman, says a son survived, but in 2 Kings and Jeremiah, all the sons are said to be killed before King Nebuchadnezzar. Therefore, this discredits the Book of Mormon as being true. We also talked about the lake of fire. They thought that this is only metaphorical since they believe God would not be loving to cause people to suffer like this. My response was, if you believe in the book of Revelation, then you must believe in it also. Their book also talks about a real hell and a lake of fire. After lunch, I preached in front of the conference center and the side of the temple with Patrick. We also passed out all the Joseph Smith False Prophecies handouts. To close the night we did a Bible study on John 14 and how Jesus is God, how the Father is Spirit, and more. What a wonderful day in God’s harvest. If only I could record everything that happened. Amen.
