During the time of Jesus’s birth, there was a lot of hostility when it came to the Messiah from the side of Herod. He did not wish to worship the newborn King but to have the roman soldiers find out where he was born and kill him. The wise men knew that there was something wrong with Herod the moment they laid eyes upon Him. So when they were told by the king to find out where he was staying and tell him, they did not listen. Instead, they followed the star to the little town of Bethlehem. It was there that they saw Jesus and were so happy. It was written, “and he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.” (Matthew 2:8-10) I can just imagine how amazing it was to see King Jesus, even as a baby.
If you know this story, you would know that the wise men found Mary and presented before the baby Jesus, gold, frankincense, and myrrh. These gifts were priceless at that time and to willfully give them to the Messiah meant a lot. These three men were truth seekers and when they heard of the Messiah, and a star that would lead them to Him, they were anxious to worship Him. Praise God. This story goes, “and when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.” (Matthew 2:11,12) Why is it that people are less anxious now to give unto the Lord what they have, especially their time to worship Him? My friends, don’t just remember Jesus during this time of year, but every day of your life. The Lord God is with us, even now, through the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people around the world will remember You, Jesus. The time we are living in is so dark and dreary. People think that what they have is helping them, but most of it is destroying their lives. The TV shows that people watch are hypnotizing them into thinking that what is evil is good and good is evil. The same thing happens in movies and video games. Lord, where are people that say they believe in You? Is their worship real or is their belief only in words? When I walk into stores I can hear children telling their parents what they want from Santa Clause. This time of year is supposed to be about Your birth, Jesus, but instead, people put their time and efforts into brainwashing their children into believing in Santa. To be nice for him, not You, Jesus. I have often wondered if people knew what the words Santa could also mean. I am seeing Satan all over it. Yes, God, I have come to worship You, but the world has come to worship Satan. This is a travesty and I pray that people will wake up to their sins before it is too late. I love You, Jesus. I give You praise. Amen.
Absolutely Worship our Lord every day-not just on Saturday or Sunday.
