Christians know and believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one God. And so we have three persons who make up one being, which is God. This is called the Trinity. The core verse from the Bible that teaches the trinity comes from 1 John 5. It reads, “for there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7) This same teaching of the trinity and verse is taught in the Book of Mormon. Although this is not known or taught in the Mormon church, their book says differently. If I was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, knowing that the trinity is in the Book of Mormon would give me red flags about what I believe in. Here are those key verses….
“And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.” (2 Nephi 31:21)
“Now, this restoration shall come to all, both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, both the wicked and the righteous; and even there shall not so much as a hair of their heads be lost; but every thing shall be restored to its perfect frame, as it is now, or in the body, and shall be brought and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God, to be judged according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil.” (Alma 11:44)
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, that this is my doctrine, and I bear record of it from the Father; and whoso believeth in me believeth in the Father also; and unto him will the Father bear record of me, for he will visit him with fire and with the Holy Ghost. And thus will the Father bear record of me, and the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him of the Father and me; for the Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost are one.” (3 Nephi 11:35,36)
“And he hath brought to pass the redemption of the world, whereby he that is found guiltless before him at the judgment day hath it given unto him to dwell in the presence of God in his kingdom, to sing ceaseless praises with the choirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are one God, in a state of happiness which hath no end.” (Mormon 7:7)
Notice in 1 John 5:7 it says, “the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one”. This means that there are three persons but one God. Not three different Gods like Mormonism teaches. The same thing is taught in the Book of Mormon. “The Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God.” (2 Nephi 31:21) “Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God.” (Alma 11:44) “The Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost are one.” (3 Nephi 11:35,36) “The Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are one God.” (Mormon 7:7) It never says one in purpose, but one God three times in the Book of Mormon. Will they teach this? Maybe one day, who knows? Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that more Mormons will come to know the truth of God. I have talked to so many of these people over the years, and the majority are so closed off to Your truth. The moment we say anything that goes against their core teachings they get upset and say that there is contention and leave. God, this needs to stop. If they believe they have the truth, then why are they so scared to speak out against Your true witnesses? This is the spirit of the devil that doesn’t allow them to hear You through us. If only people would trust in You over man, then what we share with them would ring true in their hearts and minds. I pray that many Mormons will come out of their cult and to You for salvation. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
