To know that we are in sin is so important when it comes to God and our salvation in His kingdom. The moment we think we are sin free is when we need to look at ourselves in the mirror to see if we are really in the faith. I am talking about self-acknowledgment upon our recent daily actions and understanding that we have sinned. We no longer deny that our sins can be hidden anymore, and so we ponder upon what we have done. God is unhappy with our actions and this causes us to also feel guilty in His sight. Tears of sorrow may begin to flow down your face as you realize your sinful state.  And so we confess our sins and let it all out in order to come fully surrendered to Jesus. Crying out to God is such a relief. David did this when he said, “O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore. There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. “ (Psalm 38:1-3) The wrath of God is real, but so is the love of God. This is the love we experience in these moments.
As you think upon your willful sins, realize how wrong you have been. That although God is upset with you, He is ready to forgive you also. Tell the Lord how foolish you have been, but are ready to turn from your sins today. As we mourn, we ask Jesus to forgive us. Do this and His blood will cover you and make you clean. David mourned and God forgave Him. He continued to pray and said, “for mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness. I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.” (Psalm 38:4-6) Near the end of his prayer to God he said this also. “For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.” (Psalm 38:18) If it has been some time since you have cried out to God, then please do so today. Before you go to bed and rest your eyes, kneel down beside your bed or on your bed before your pillow. Allow those tears to flow as you confess your sins openly before God. Ask the Lord God to change your life with all sincerity and He will. God’s mercy is for everyone that calls upon Jesus. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I come to You in open arms. I admit that I am a sinner. You know my thoughts and my intentions for today and this week. Hear my prayers and confessions this day. I am sorry for my sins and pray that You, Jesus, will cleanse me through Your blood. In my tears do I write this and acknowledge that Your wrath is real. Help me dear God to walk in Your statutes. I have fallen way too many times and need You to keep me upright. I believe that You died for my sins, Jesus, and receive that atonement for my life. Forgive me, God, and have mercy for my sins. If there is anything I have not confessed that needs to be, bring those things to my remembrance also. I know that You are not ok with any unconfessed sins. And Lord, help me to also forgive others as You forgive me. Many people have hurt me in ways that is hard to not be angry with them. But instead, I will freely forgive and not keep any grudges, for I know that You don’t keep grudges over us once we are forgiven. You are greater than us all, Father, and I need Your mighty help to live in this world, and also be Your light in the darkness. I love You, God. Have Your way in my life, Jesus. I trust in You. Amen.
