Before I found the Lord, wickedness prevailed in my life. My flesh was in control and I could not escape the lustful passions. Things appeared to be good on the outside, but the sin therein I gave into like prey to a hunter. I was trapped, the moment my flesh and sinful desires kicked in, although there was pleasure in the moment. Many regrets came into my mind each time I fell for the trickery of the evil one. There was no fortress or shield for me to avoid it. God was not with me and therefore, I would fall again and again. Thankfully, God is patient and didn’t give up on me. He saw the person I could still become. All I needed to do was deny myself, confess my sins, and that Jesus is Lord, and then I would be saved. In my tears, did I fall down upon my knees and ask the Lord, God, for forgiveness. The Spirit then came into my life like a fire and all I wanted to do is live for Jesus. My life continued like David’s as he said, “the Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God. For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me. I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.” (Psalm 18:20-23)
I can say this for certain, that I am living in God’s righteousness and that sin no longer abounds. Jesus’s blood has covered me and I have clean hands in His sight. This is only because I keep what God speaks to my heart and it means the world to me. To depart from God now would mean death and destruction. God’s judgments are before me, and therefore I say, judge me now, Lord. If I am doing anything wrong, convict me of these evils. I hate even the appearance of evil and only the ways of God do I cherish. I can see the rewards in heaven, although this life is still very hard. There is pain, sorrow, and death, but in the next, all this will pass away. Heaven is real and those who have real faith in God, our Savior, will be there. David wrote, “therefore hath the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward. For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.” (Psalm 18:24-27) The Lord God is so merciful to those who call upon His Name. Give Him a chance to come into Your life today, and He will come and save you. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, help those who are in need. I am speaking of people who are in the midst of trials and don’t know where to turn. Help them find peace in Your presence. Reveal Yourself to them in a way that they will find comfort and knowledge of who You are, Jesus. I hope to lead more people, who are on the path of destruction, to You and Your abundant light. There is peace that is beyond our understanding when You are with us. I am no longer the one in control, but You, Jesus, are walking right with me. Keep me upright, that I might not fall to the schemes of the evil one. All I desire is to live for You and do as You say. Speak to me, Lord. Give me wisdom. I am one of Your sheep and need a Shepherd to lead me where I should go. I trust in You, Lord. People have failed me, but You have never forsaken me. I may not have always done the right things, but You have seen the potential in me still. I’ve given up on many people throughout my life, but You have never given up on me. There is no one like You, God. You are my deliverer, my rock, my fortress, and my firm foundation. I am loved by the most beautiful, majestic, awesome, mighty, and powerful being, of whom I love with all my heart. I give You glory and praise, Jesus. I love You, Father, who art in heaven. Hallowed be thy Name. Amen.
