The most righteous person to ever walk this earth besides Jesus was Enoch. Twice in Genesis does it say that he walked with God. The first time was after he and his wife begat Methuselah and also before God took him up in heaven. You can just imagine what he must have seen and experienced while being with God. Surely, angels were with him also and must have shown him much to even be recorded in a book. Yes, my friends. His writings are recorded in the “Book of Enoch“. They are preserved to this day. As I have read that book several times and believe it is from God and scripture also, I ask that you also read it also with an open heart. Praise be to God that we have such a book as this, in order to learn more of what Enoch saw in the heavenly realm. As for what we learn in Genesis, it reads, “and Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” (Genesis 5:18-24) May this also be written about you walking with God in the Spirit after you pass on from death to life.
In Hebrews, we learn that when Enoch was taken up to be with God, he was translated, in order to not see death. God knew his love and devotion to Him, so he very much pleased God. What Enoch demonstrated was true faith, which is why God was pleased by his actions on earth. We learn that through our faith in the Lord, our God, we are able to please God in a similar manner as Enoch. Our faith leads us to not only believe in Jesus as our Lord, God, and Savior, but to diligently seek His face daily. The author of Hebrews also says it in this way, “by faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:5,6) Isn’t it interesting that this mention of our faith pleasing God comes right after mentioning Enoch in these verses? But there is a reason for this. Enoch exemplified what it meant to believe in, seek after, and also do as God says. Jesus was perfect in doing this, as He is God, but to see a normal person like Enoch do this is amazing. But you know what would be as cool as this, if you are remembered by God in the way you pleased him through your faith. We can walk with God in the Spirit, and I pray that more people will begin to do this. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, help me to be the person You have always wanted me to be. Not the person I wish to be in life, but the person You want me to be. Remove all of my hopes and dreams if they do not line up with Your will, and the building up of Your kingdom. What I want in life, because of the flesh, is not important if I am not pleasing You in these efforts. Lord, take my unclean hands and make them clean through Your blood. The same blood that was shed for us on the cross, I ask that You, Jesus, will cleanse my body and spirit. I believe that You are the greater healer and an awesome God, so please come and heal me both physically and spiritually. You see, my nose and sinus issues have been with me for most of my marriage now. It has caused many people to shy away from me, think I am sick with the flu, and contagious. This in part has made me depressed at times, since I cannot find the care I need to heal me from these sicknesses. But Lord, I know what You can touch my head and cause all my sickness to go away in an instant. Will you do this for me now? I believe that You can do all things. Jesus. Yes, God, heal what is broken in my body and also my spirit. Though I have sinned much in this life, I no longer wish to keep doing this any longer. Forgive me. Put in me a clean heart and a new desire to only live for You. I choose the better part, which is having You in my life Lord. I love You. I trust in You, God, above all else. I praise Your holy Name, Jesus. Amen.
