Today was an amazing time witnessing with my neighbor and his Muslim friend. I first asked who believed in Jesus and my neighbor raised his hand and then I asked why the other guy did not and he said he was Muslim. Upon hearing this, I told him that Christians believe that Jesus is God, where Muslims only believe that Jesus is a prophet. Where I told him that we believe this since Jesus himself said he is God. This is recorded several times from the mouth of Jesus. I then shared the following verses by heart with him. Jesus said, “your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then took they up stones to cast at him.” (John 8:56-59) This is in reference to this passage in Exodus, “and God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.” (Exodus 3:4:14) And if Jesus is God, as he said, then that makes him our Creator, Judge, Lord, and Savior also. He then mentioned that Jesus is said to be the “Son of Man” and the “Son of God’, where I mentioned that this makes sense since “there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7) This teaches us about trinity where the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are three persons in one God. I explained this to him in a way that he could understand, and amazingly his interest was perked. He also said he would look up the verses I mentioned. Praise God.
It was after I shared these verses with him that he told me that he needed to read a better verse where Jesus said he is God, so I pointed him to Revelation 1. It is written, “and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:5-8) Jesus continued “saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book.” (Revelation 1:11) This is in reference to Isaiah 44 that reads, “thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” (Isaiah 44:6) It was then that I told him that the verses speak for themselves. That the truth of the matter is that Jesus is God, and the Messiah who was prophesied of that would be born of a virgin. He came into the world and fulfilled the prophecies spoken of Him. Now, all this man had to do was believe in Him, and then He could be saved. This means his sins would be forgiven and God would lead him into doing His will, not his own. I told him to think about all this and he said he would. Praise God for the time I had with them. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, thank You for speaking through me this day. As I stopped my car I was greeted by my neighbor who was excited to see me. This was after a two-hour drive home and I was tired, but seeing the smile on his face led me to greet him with love and to witness Your truths with him and his friend. Yes, God. It was at that moment that I walked close to where they were sitting and asked them if they were believers in You. My neighbor was excited and said yes, but I knew his friend didn’t feel the same way about You. So I asked him, “why don’t you believe in Jesus?” When he said it was because he was Muslim, I knew that I could only get through to him if you were with me. No matter what I would say, he would reject it unless the Holy Spirit was there doing the speaking. So at that moment, I invoked the Holy Spirit to speak and You did. Wow! Thank You, God. I couldn’t believe all the verses in the Bible that were flooding through my mind as I helped this Muslim man understand that You are God, Jesus. Just as You spoke to John, I also believe that You are Alpha and Omega, the First and The Last, the Beginning and the ending. And as You told the Pharisees, You are the great “I Am”. There is no one like You, God. These references of Yourself were spoken to Moses and Isaiah and other prophets. Thank You for allowing me to get through to this Muslim man with these verses and others. Lord, I pray that he will turn from his sins and come to You, Jesus. There is salvation only through You and not Muhammad. I love You, Lord. Amen.
