There are many things that God wishes to teach His people, even His dear children on this earth. Hebrews, chapter 13, mentions just a few of these words of wisdom that we need to all learn and do in our own lives. So let’s begin this journey together as we see what God would have to teach us. It begins with, “let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” (Hebrews 13:1-4) Just in these few passages, we learn the importance of being loving towards all people in the church and without. To help all people who are in need, for some may be angels. Remember people who go into prison through visiting them and prayer. Marriage is important, but sex outside of marriage is fornication in God’s eyes. Speaking of fornicators, many of them are also whoremongers, which I would call porn watchers, while others are adulterers. These are those whom God will judge with much wrath, lest they repent.
In these few passages of scripture, I know that God has touched your heart to learn something new, even to convict you of your sins. Therefore, come to the Lord and do as He says, while confessing your sins before Him. His mercy is for you. Now, as we continue to read in Hebrews, chapter 13, the verses continue with, “let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.” (Hebrews 13:5-9) We are taught to boldly come to Jesus and not be carried away by the doctrines of men. Jesus is the same and will never forsake those who put their trust in Him. Put your trust in Him today and you shall be saved.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that myself and others in the faith will remain faithful to You. That we will read what the Bible says and also obey Your teachings. So often do we read what is written, think about it for a while, and then brush it off. Instead of letting Your wisdom sink into our hearts, in order to change us from within, we go forth and continue to do what we’ve always done. I know that this is not Your will for us. Surely, it is very dangerous to think that we are saved when we are not doing as You command us. I know that I have done this countless times and I am sorry. So in this prayer, we come together as believers, but also knowing that we have done You wrong. Please forgive us and have mercy upon us, as sinners. We ask that You will have mercy upon us and lead us from temptation from here on out. We don’t wish to willfully sin against You again. Teach us Your ways and put us on Your righteous and holy path that leads to heaven. We are ready now to serve You, our King. We are ready also to not do things that will hurt our relationship with You, but to do whatever is possible to strengthen it daily. Receive us, oh Lord. Do a work in us that has not been seen before. I believe in You. I love You. Amen.
