There is a right way to share the gospel of Jesus. Many people evangelize with envy and strife, which leads to contention. But this is not God’s way. Arguments hardly ever win out and cause people to follow Jesus at the end. That is why God’s people witness the truths of Christ with love and respect. In saying this, Paul said, “some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.” (Philippines 1:15-18) I have seen many people come to know Jesus after witnessing the truth of God with them. However, this was only when I was patient, respectful, and loving towards that individual. When I said things to trip them up and cause them to doubt their own belief system more people got upset and stormed away. Therefore, I have learned over time and, now, only want the Holy Spirit to speak through me. To let God’s will be done and not mine.
I am happy to know that there are people preaching Christ’s message on the streets and in all the world. It is also awesome to know that people are knocking doors, witnessing one on one, praying with people, and passing out gospel tracts. All this is well and good on the surface but still needs to happen with the love of Christ in us. Paul further taught on what it means to share our faith with others. He said, “for I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.” (Philippians 1:19-22) Prayer is much needed, especially that God’s witnesses will shine brightly for Jesus. This way many people will come to Christ and be saved. I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ and that is why I open my mouth with boldness. I labor in this life for Jesus, that more souls will be saved before the end comes.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, lead every person who is currently sharing the gospel. I am speaking of every person who has become Your witness in all the world. Give them words to speak that knock on doors, speak to people one on one, including social media, pray with people, and pass out gospel tracts. It is wonderful to know what they are doing, and we need more people so willing to get out there for You. To simply open their mouths and allow You to fill them. I just pray that they do not get out of control and say things they will later regret. So cast out of every person who wishes to be Your witness the spirit of strife, envy, pride, and contention. Fill them up with Your love, and patience. Only then can people learn to be Your witness and lead people to know You, and not to go further away from it. Darkness never mixes well with light, for one will always overtake the other. Therefore, help us to not get caught up in things that the flesh is moving us to do, but what You desire for us instead. As for me, I submit my life to not only follow You but to do as You lead me. People on earth are so precious, and I desire to lead as many of them to know You before it is too late. Be with me, God. I love You. Amen.
