Many times people need to hear the Word of God more than once. Even from more than one person helps also. It is because “in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” (2 Corinthians 13:1) This is God’s standard for everything He does. That is why doctrine in the Bible is also made known through more than one chapter and not just a single place in the Bible. What is sad is that certain cults like Mormonism have taken verses that question baptisms for the dead and then say lookie here, this was a practice in the early church. For example, Paul questioned the people and said, “else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?” (1 Corinthians 15:29) But is there any other place in the Bible that mentions this or makes it an official doctrine? Nope. However, we have people who feel like they are smarter than God and add a church practice out of such controversial verses. Mormons have done this and now they temples all around the world doing baptisms for people who have passed on to the grave. Even young sixteen your old kids are taking the names of dead people and baptizing them as a proxy. You heard this right. They invoke the names of a dead person, as they call the names of the dead. The young adults are then baptized for the dead person. So they believe that people in spirit prison will then receive their individual baptisms as a form of entrance into heaven, thus avoiding hell.
What Mormons are doing is conjuring up the dead and trying to save them, though their works on earth are finished and cannot be repented of. Now, the fact that this is the time to prepare to meet God and that we have no second chances is foreign in their corrupted minds. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27) “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:7,8) If people die in their sins it is game over. There portion is with those in the lake of fire after judgment is set. Therefore, “examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.” (2 Corinthians 13:6,7) If we are not worthy to enter heaven when we die, we are reprobates in God’s eyes. This is an unsaved person who died without the Holy Spirit in them. We cannot just baptize dead people and believe they will have a second chance of being saved. My friends, these are all lies from the devil himself.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will get right with You while they still have time. To delay the day of our salvation is only damning us to hell. We never know the day or time that You will take us to paradise or hell when we die. There are good things in store for every person that believes in You, Jesus, but I can’t even fathom the pain people will go through if they end up in hell. They will continually be thinking back on their life and where they went wrong. How they had so many chances to confess and forsake their sins in prayer, but instead they justified them. Surely, Lord, this world has flipped what is right and what is wrong upside down. If I didn’t have You then I would also be doing things that were very sinful in Your sight and not even realize it. Thankfully, Your Spirit abides in me and I have not become a reprobate. I still continue to seek Your face and do Your will daily. I may not be perfect, but I strive to be obedient to You in all that I do. As I say I love You, Lord, I really mean it. Whatever task You have for my life, just let me know what it is and I will go forth as Your servant. I wish to shine Your light for all to see, but need You to be ever with me for that to happen. There are many false religions all around me and I wish to lead them out of it and to You alone, Jesus. I just need Your help in these evangelistic efforts. Help me know how to speak and act around people who are currently lost. I love You. I trust in You. Amen.
