As was spoken of by the angel of the Lord and John the Baptist, Jesus came into the world for one purpose. It was to save His people from their sins. It is written in Matthew 1, starting with verse 18 the following. 1“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:18-23) And who are the people of Jesus Christ? The Jews and those that are adopted into His fold through belief in Jesus as Lord. This is recorded in John, chapter 1, starting with verse 12 as well. It reads, 2“but as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12,13)
It is because Jesus died for our sins on the cross that we are saved by grace. Which is a free gift from God to those that believe in Jesus Christ. There are no more sacrifices to be made, but a belief in Jesus that is manifested by the fruits of God’s works in our lives, not our own. This way we don’t boast in ourselves but boast in God, who strengthens us. As Ephesians, chapter 2, starting with verse 8 reads, 3“for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10) Now, people quote this all the time in order to justify their salvation in faith alone. However, what people define as faith is often misleading for it doesn’t include fruits. And Paul would not have mentioned that because of faith we are the workmanship of God, created to do His good works. He even commands those that believe to walk in His truth. Now, this goes hand in hand in what John the Baptist said in John 1, chapter 1, verse 17. It reads, 2“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17) This is all possible again because Jesus 2“taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29) So go forth in faith in Jesus Christ. Allow Him to teach you His truths in the Bible and in prayer. Don’t just believe for a time or sin all you want to while saying you believe, but walk in your faith. This is the kind of faith that saves us by the blood of Jesus.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I am so grateful for Your birth. Yes, Jesus, it is a blessing to know that my Messiah did come to earth, in order to save us from our sins. All my life I have been needing a Savior, even though I didn’t realize it until I was older. My life was on the rocks for far too long and all this could have changed if I had just looked to You in faith early on. Then would my life have been restored much earlier through Your blood. I know that at this time I missed out on many blessings from above, and I am so sorry for wasting my life as I did. However, I know that You don’t hold these past transgressions against me, which fills my heart with love and hope. I know that You can see my life and know the inner beatings of my heart, but I want You to know that I love You so much. Thank You for saving a wretch like me. You’ve heard my prayers and had compassion for my soul. I’ve never felt so much mercy and grace until You came into my life. I was so lost in this world, and now I am restored in Your love. Light shines brightly, and I am honored to walk in it. All Your good works are for me and for the welfare of others and I look forward to doing as You say each day of my life. I know that You want to teach me much more through the Bible, prayer, and just seeking You often throughout the day. So thank You for coming down to bring us Your good tidings. Surely, Your teachings are a delight to my soul and others. I love You and give You the praise and glory. Amen.
