Many times, Christians will tell us things that we may know the way, for God is leading them. It depends on our current state of mind and heart, is if we will heed the counsel of God. To the open hearted, the Lord opens their eyes that they may know His ways. They are ready to leave a lifestyle of sin and unbelief. Even if their beliefs in God were wrong they count God’s truth to be of uttermost importance. They are willing to give up their addictions, along with any man made beliefs that are contrary to God. Testing their faith with the Bible is most important to make sure they are in line with God. They’d hate to live a full life being deceived because they were in error. Jesus said, 2“You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.” As Jesus taught, we ought to know the scriptures to make sure we are following Him and not man. To the closed hearted, the Lord tugs at their heart, that they may know truth but they ignore it. They are not ready to leave a lifestyle of sin. What they believe in now feels good, so to them it must be true. What Christians teach is contrary to their faith and lifestyle so they ignore it. David taught that God 1“hast shewed thy people hard things.” To these people, it is a very difficult thing to accept for it changes everything.
Some people would rather keep believing something contrary to the Bible in order to not break up families and relationships. Because their own family wouldn’t accept the new teaching, they withhold doing anything, in order to not cause contention. They are oh so comfortable in their ways now, and it would be too harsh of a change to give into. Why give up a good thing, they may say. For example, I was talking with a Mormon, on the street, the other day, about Marriage. I quoted the passage, when Jesus answered the Sadducees questions about the resurrection and marriage. 2“For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.” Simply put, there is no marriage in heaven, for we are like the angels. He listened but then said that he still believed in eternal marriage, because it felt good inside. I then responded that Satan can mask false doctrines with being true. He makes it so that on the outside it appears good but on the inside it is corrupt and deceitful. He wishes to cloak the truth so that we may not see it. Open your heart to God that you may know the truth of God and no longer error in your own wisdom. I pray that you come to know the truth, for 3“the truth shall make you free” indeed.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I am grateful for Your wisdom. Though I errored in my own ways for so long, I am grateful that You never gave up on me. You continually tugged at my heart until I finally listened. Though what seemed to be hard at first, was not so difficult when I understood the true meaning. My salvation was at stake and I knew that following in Your ways was more important. It didn’t matter what my family or friends thought of me. My current church may see that I am off base but Lord, You breathed truth into my heart and now I can see. Not only was I living in sin but also following the doctrines of men. Oh how my heart sunk when I came to know this, but Lord, how grateful I am to be shown the light. Because my heart was opened, You showed grace upon my wicked heart. I felt true forgiveness. Thank You Lord. I didn’t know how to live a different life on my own but You took me by the hand and helped me. I was born again because You love me. Your Spirit is a flame that keeps me going. Thank You Lord for caring so deeply for me. I love You. Amen.

1 O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
2 Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
3 Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
5 That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.
2Matthew 22:23-30 (KJV)
23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27 And last of all the woman died also.
28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
3John 8:31-36 (KJV)
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
