If someone is sick, do what the Lord would have you do and care for them. Pray for their healing. Take them by the hand and pray for a miracle from the heavens. Show them kindness and stay with them until they are well. If they ask for favors, go out of your way to get them what they need. Do all that you can to make them feel comfortable. Spend time in conversation. Enjoy the time you have with each other. We never know the amount of time we will have with our loved ones. We may have many years with our friends and family and others only days. We must cherish the times we have with one another. The Lord has blessed us with wonderful parents and siblings. They have done so much for us during our lifetime. It is only right to show love to them when they are ill. My family brings me great joy. I thank the Lord for them in my life. I love being around them. It’s love that brings us all together. It breaks my heart when they are sick.
In the last two years there has been much heartache in my family. Both, mine and my wife’s dad, passed away. The times before my dad’s death, I remember coming over and still seeing a smile on his face. He loved it when family was around. We were the joy of his life. I remember our last few times we talked. I was kneeling by his bed, holding his hand. He’d ask if we could pray together. I obliged and asked the Lord for comfort and peace. He would then tell me how much he loved Christ, the Lord. He was so excited to meet Him. I am so glad I was with my dad the night before he passed. He was sleeping so peacefully. When the Lord took him that next morning, all of us were in a state of shock. We knew the time was coming but didn’t know it would be so soon. My heart had sunk. My family and I were in tears. I will never forget my wonderful father. He is the apple of my eye. I will cherish the time I had with him for the rest of my life.
Genesis 27:1-4
1 Now it came to pass, when Isaac was old and his eyes were so dim that he could not see, that he called Esau his older son and said to him, “My son.” And he answered him, “Here I am.”
2 Then he said, “Behold now, I am old. I do not know the day of my death.
3 Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me.
4 And make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.”
