Love Your Spouse And Pray Always

We all hit our high points in life when we are on fire for the Lord.  We can go many days and even months thinking that life is good.  That we are doing all that we can for the Lord.  What I’ve come to realize is how hard it is to stay strong in the faith every day.  It takes a lot of work.  It takes consistent prayer.  It takes consistent studying of the Bible.  It takes consistent love for others.  It takes consistent love for God.  We need to stay strong in each of these areas or else we will fall.  Without us knowing it we may start getting irritated by the littlest things.  We might even feel depressed inside.  Hard times will start creeping into our lives and if we don’t react to it in a positive way and seek God it will be hard to come back.

When days are hard it is easy to let the world get you down.  I haven’t had one of those days for a while but today was one of them.  It felt easy other days to seek the Lord but today many things just did it in for me.  I got irritated by the littlest things.  My temper raged and I didn’t say the kindest things to my wife.  It’s hard to explain what happened but I know one thing.  I wasn’t consistent with loving my wife and praying to God.  Even though I read His word, loved others as much as I could, and tried to love Him I was missing two important things.  I needed to love my wife with a sincere love and have a deeper relationship with God.  My emotions were telling me I was strong in the Lord.  It’s odd how the littlest things help you realize what you are missing.

Lord, I pray that I may be kinder to my wife.  That I will tell her every day that I love her.  That I will do the necessary things in the house as a good father should.  I realize how distant I’ve been with You Lord.  The days I sought after you in prayer it was easier to love my wife.  I had forgotten the relationship I had built with You.  I am so sorry Lord and seek your forgiveness.  I want you to know that I love you and will try harder to keep You in my heart.  I will strive to follow you and be more faithful.  I will strive to pray more earnestly.  I pray that as I seek you in prayer that my marriage will grow stronger.  That the love I have for you will show in the way I treat my wife.  Thank You Lord for awakening me to Your Love.  I will seek You.  For I love You Lord.

1 Peter 3:7-12
7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.
8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous;
9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
10 For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
