Why not now, cry out to God in all your confessions? Plead for His forgiveness and mercy while also telling Him how sorry you are. The Lord needs to know that you are sincere in coming to Him. And if your heart is broken because of your sins, then the Lord, our God, will come to you. He can see that what we have done is heavy on our hearts and will lift those burdens. Paul wrote about this and said, “Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.” (2 Corinthians 7:9-11)
Repentance is often not taught enough in church. So many people are living in willful sins, that this kind of message would spark something in them to give up their sinful lifestyle for God. However, since church pastors are often silent on the need to repent, people remain in their sins day in and day out. Over time people even have learned to justify their sins. So people continue to look at porn on a regular basis, have sex outside marriage, have affairs, drink alcohol and get drunk, use foul language, do drugs, play violent video games, and more. These things all cause a person to become very distant from God. Even to the point of not coming to Him in prayer over time. Their desire to read the Bible is also way less now. However, as long as people still have breath, there is still hope for them. Maybe they will be spoken to by a co-worker, friend, or family member about Jesus, which would change everything. Then, if they received prayer, a life change may occur for Christ. My friends, learn to give things up that are holding you back from God, while letting Him cleanse you of all your sins.
Sinner’s pray:
Oh Lord, we come to You now and ask for Your forgiveness and mercy. We are sorry for falling into the traps of the enemy. We could have done better when it comes to calling out for Your help when temptations came, but instead, we felt we could deal with it on our own and fell. Sorry, God. Forgive me. You know exactly what I have done, and it grieves me to come to You now. It is very sad to know that I have gone against Your best wishes and have succumbed to the devil’s wishes instead. I hope and pray that You accept my confessions as a sin offering on my behalf. I know that you have already suffered for my sins, but I accept Your sacrifice in my life also. It is my desire now to come to You when I feel overly tempted beyond my will. You have delivered me in the past and I trust You will continue to do so. I trust in You, God. Build me up with Your armor, that I may not so easily fall again. I love You, Lord. You are my Savior, Jesus, and I run to You now. Receive me, Lord. Amen.
