Joseph Smith Changed The Bible: Revelation 1:3

When comparing the Joseph Smith Translation (JST) with the King James Bible (KJV) you see some crazy differences. I am talking about differences in verses that will get you scratching your head. How anyone would believe in Joseph Smith and his corrupted Bible. I am talking about over 3400 verses that were changed in comparison to the KJV. This was done without even thinking it was wrong. The weird thing about this, is that people of the Mormon faith are for this revised King James Bible. They proclaim that Joseph was simply bringing the Book back to the original. What they don’t realize is that we have more and more evidence from the past that speaks out of the truthfulness of the King James Bible. The earliest manuscripts of the Bible are not different from what we hold today with the KJV. This gives us a feeling of hope that it is a good word for word translation like unto others also. Speaking of the wrongful changes done to the KJV see the differences below in Revelation…

Revelation 1:3 (KJV)
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Revelation 1:3 (Joseph Smith Translation)
3 Blessed are they who read and they who hear and understand the words of this prophecy and keep those things which are written therein. For the time of the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

As you can see above, both verses share a core message: those who read, understand, and live by the prophecy that is written in this book are blessed. This is especially true given the urgency of the time. However, there are specific differences between the two verses. #1, The pronoun at the beginning starts with “he that readeth” in the KJV, while the JST starts with “they who read”. So instead of a person reading and gaining insight for themselves, they gain insight collectively as a group. #2, The JST includes understanding the prophecy as a condition for being blessed, while the KJV version does not mention the need for understanding. This is because God is able to give us true understanding, while we can get in trouble doing this ourselves. #3, In the KJV, “the time is at hand” is speaking of the events that will take place in this prophesy, where in the JST, “the time of the coming of the Lord draweth nigh” refers to the Second Coming of the Lord alone, which is not the true meaning of the verse.

Now you can see how these verses have been corrupted, and the true meaning is lost. This is all because Joseph Smith decided to add and take away from this prophesy. John wrote, “for I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18-19) Lastly, we learn about a warning to those like Joseph Smith who would tamper with the contents of the Book of Revelation. These verses declare that if anyone dares add to or remove from the words of this prophecy they will face dire consequences. This includes having God’s plagues come upon them, theirr name removed from the book of life, not being able to enter new Jerusalem, and having no entrance to the new earth. Amen.
