Book Of Mormon Contradiction: Helaman 6:9,10; 8:21 – Part 2

The Bible says that “in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” (2 Corinthians 13:1) We can trust a specific doctrine or teaching because the Bible will speak of the same thing in more than one place. This is the case with the sons of Zedekiah being killed before the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar. This is when their father was captured by the army of the Chaldeans and in the midst of their own father, they were slain. It was soon afterward that King Zedekiah had his eyes removed by the enemy. This is the teaching that is found in 2 Kings 25:5-8, Jeremiah 39:4-7, and Jeremiah 52:8-11. I am seeing three different accounts in the Bible that say the same thing about the sons of Zedekiah. However the Book of Mormon is in disagreement with these verses, as you will see from that book, namely Helaman 6:9,10, and Helaman 8:21. It says a son survived, but read for yourself below…

“And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him. So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him. And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon. And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem.” (2 Kings 25:5-8)

“And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain. But the Chaldeans’ army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him. Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah. Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.” (Jeremiah 39:4-7)

“But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him. Then they took the king, and carried him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; where he gave judgment upon him. And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes: he slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah. Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.” (Jeremiah 52:8-11)

“And it came to pass that they became exceedingly rich, both the Lamanites and the Nephites; and they did have an exceeding plenty of gold, and of silver, and of all manner of precious metals, both in the land south and in the land north. Now the land south was called Lehi, and the land north was called Mulek, which was after the son of Zedekiah; for the Lord did bring Mulek into the land north, and Lehi into the land south. (Helaman 6:9,10)

“And now will you dispute that Jerusalem was destroyed? Will ye say that the sons of Zedekiah were not slain, all except it were Mulek? Yea, and do ye not behold that the seed of Zedekiah are with us, and they were driven out of the land of Jerusalem? But behold, this is not all.” (Helaman 8:21)

The Book of Mormon makes a claim that a son of Zedekiah survived and was with the people that came to America in the Book of Mormon. This supposed son was called Mulek. But what will you believe? The fact of the matter is that the Book of Mormon cannot be of God if what I am saying is true about the sons of Zedekiah being killed before the king of Baylon, Nebuchadnezzar. If you are a Mormon, you must make a choice today about what you will believe. The Bible or the Book of Mormon. You cannot believe in both books since their stories are different when it comes to the sons of Zedekiah. Speaking of this fact, God has led me to bring this up with different members of the Mormon faith and it has caused their faith to unravel before my eyes.

It was about a month and a half ago that I presented this same story of the sons of Zedekiah with a young man, age 18, who was Mormon. My friend and I in the faith were knocking on doors and happened to find him that day, the son of a Mormon bishop. Getting to know him, we found out that he was getting ready to go on an LDS mission, and his answer was something to think about. I asked him at his door if he could still believe the Book of Mormon if the story in the Bible is true and he said no. This same young man allowed me and my brother in Christ to witness to him for the next hour. Praise God. He said he has a lot to think about and reconcile in his mind. Will you do this also, if you are a Mormon? This is all I am asking. Make the Bible your foundation and this story in the Book of Mormon will become false. Amen.
